Boarding problem.

Hi all,

After defeating the enemy captain, I cannot leave his cabin.

How to do that?

If you defeated the enemy captain, you should be able to press space to get to the loot menu.

Hi Peter,

unfortunately this does not work. I only get a dialogue with one answer to myself: "No time..."
and then I am back in the cabin.
Pressing enter does not give an option to enter loot menu.

Uh? How did you get into that situation? Getting a self dialog isn't quite normal. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
 
Hi all,

I know how boarding works now. It works wrong...

After defeating the enemy captain you can indeed see a small padlock icon for a little while and enter the loot menu by pressing spacebar.
BUT, if you loot chests in captains cabin, you`re stuck in the way I described before.
Thats really dumb if it`s a WAD. I missed a nice sum in gold a few good items through this.

I would be interested to know if the russian ver, which has been along for quite a while mishandles boarding in this way also.

I suspect, however, that we are yet again victims of Playlogics and Akellas total disregard for quality control and proper finishing of their products.

I am using CoAS ver 1.3, I think this thread is for this game, not PoTC Build...

Hi,

yes, the game crashes if there are lots of ships/squadrons close to eachother. The best place to experience this is in Maracaibo bay.

I play on normal encounter rate, Captain difficulty and had to resign from entering Maracaibo.
If the game does not crash, you will be sunk. It is a real hornets nest, this place. I think Seaward overdid things a little here and there.

Also, I`ve seen enemies with what looked like silk sails, but these are nowhere to be bought AFAIK.
So running away is much harder, if at all possible.

Sounds like a similar problem that I had many times in PotC Build (about getting stuck in the captain's cabin). <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> And now that it is confirmed that CoAS has a open program folder.. why don't we try to fix it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> When more people get the game. And about that lots of ships getting together causes crash.. methinks that problem should be removable too, some script(s) just needs some tweaking. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

the things is, IMHO, that 2 yrs after release, such problems should have been eliminated by the publisher.

Game runs smoothly without lagging on this outfit.

Hi all,

totally idiotic bug that should have been reported first:

- game does not start, for me at least, from the start screen from auto run. You must exit this screen and start by dblclick on the desktop icon.

I guess that says all about Playlogics and Akellas attention to detail and aftermarket support.

None of the pirate genre games from Akella have ever had the choice to start the game from an autorun screen. And many of them never even had an autorun, you had to manually start the setup process.

Hi Cap`n,

let a dummy explain.

I put in the disc and up comes a screen with a scarred face and commands, one being "play".
On selecting play, nothing happens. I have to close screen and dblclick on the desktop icon to start the game.
I do not think it`s a WAD...

Wow, thats new for them. They are moving up in the world. **grins**

Probably a bug with the internal link on the disk then.

As long as it runs from the desktop icon, you should be good to go.

Game doesn't start in autorun.. big f**king deal. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Be glad it starts from the .exe/.exe's desktop shortcut. I rarely use autoruns.
