Boarding in Build 13

I'm going to guess it is probably something Hook had in his personal game and wound up in the Build. It doesn't bother me at all, it doesn't matter to me how the boarding fights go. I just wanted to make sure that the boarding code that we all were using is the correct one that Hook worked so diligently on.

But by "both ships" you mean that your boarders and the enemy appear on both ships fighting each other, right?

What we want is the enemy on their ship and we on ours, at the start of combat.

2 ship boarding decks I had two of my officers on my ship figting enemy crew one opponent each and rest of crew is on enemy ship doing same.I think this good setup as gives you a choice to help officers or board enemy ship.I would assume that if you have no officers assigned there would be crewmembers on both ships. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

That was the way it was in stock POTC.

A mod was done to get boarders on opposite ships.

I guess this mod has been trashed in B13.

I thought whoever did this mod made an improvement but I guess no one really cares anymore.
 
Yeah, was the same is stock PotC, with the only difference being that you aren't facing an opponent when you start out. But I agree, the B13 Beta boarding was better. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
 
Then where the *** did the Build 13 Beta boarding GO??? I didn't remove it. Build 13 should still be using Hook's boarding code, which contains CCC's boarding changes (crews start at their own ship). I think Hook will need to check the boarding code, because this is NOT what is supposed to happen! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
 
As soon as I can get a non-installer version, I will check it.

The LAi_boarding.c code is set up so your crew start at either alocN or locN depending on if you're the attacker or defender. If you want all the boarders of one side to start on one ship, the locations for the two ship top deck file will have to be edited so that it's set up that way.

Hook, I have uploaded the LAi_boarding.c file used in Build 13 Update 1 - I have made no modifications to it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
 
Jeez! That's the OLD boarding code, before I made any changes.

Pieter, you need to look into this.

For everyone else, you can proabaly use the LAi_boarding.c file from any recent update. Just make sure it's not the same one. I've got a copy of the update 1, and it has the new boarding code in it. Something's screwy somewhere.

That is extremely odd indeed - I seem to have uploaded something that is 31.1 kilobytes... But I have a copy of the file in the game folder that is 67.5 kilobytes in size... Player starts away from the fight on the first deck, but the crews are on both ships already as far as I could tell. As for the other boarding locations, they are the same as stock PotC I think. <!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

What would I need to do for you to have a look at it? You want a non-installer version of Build 13? Just get Build 13 Update 1; it contains all files to update Beta 9 to Build 13. When I get back, I will do a compare on all LAi_boarding.c versions in the beta's.
 
Update 1 has the new LAi_boarding.c file. I have no idea why anyone has the old one. This is the part that needs looking into, how someone could still have the old version of the file after running the installer.

Two questions:
1) IS the LAi_boarding.c file in Build 13 Update 1 the correct one? The one that you are using?
2) Do you have both crews starting at their own ship every time?
 
I am using the update 1 and the boardings have the crews start on both ships every time.
 
But that's not th way it's supposed to be, is it? The crews are supposed to each start on their own ship. It used to be like that in older Pre Build 13 versions, but apparently it somehow changed in the latest modpacks. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
 
what i experienced in build 14 was that the enemy started on the same ship that i was on, and my crew started on the other ship. however, i think half the enemies started on the other ship as well, but my other crew got killed so fast that i had to fight all of them anyway. the corpses of my crew where on the other ship. and a huge plie of enemies on the ship where i was. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> i don't know which one was my ship, it was rather confusing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
