Today Ubisoft made it official, the PC version of Assassin's Creed III will be released a full month after the console release. No surprises here, they leaked that info over a month ago. Combine that with the fact that they are forcing on their PC costumers the worst DRM currently available in the gaming industry, and it is pretty clear exactly what those corporate executive types are trying to do. Before I found out this game had any kind of naval connection I wasn't even mildly interested anyway, the premise of the game it's self is pretty unrealistic to begin with, yet they continue to try and push the historical accuracy in the game. PC gamers built the foundations of their gaming empire, and this is how they choose to reward us. Thanks again for saving me another $50 Ubisoft!

I'm assuming your referring to having played the previous Assassin's Creed games, as AC3 hasn't been released yet. If you like that type of game, great for you! I prefer not to have intrusive, back-door ridden DRM that forces me to connect to an online server before I can even play the game, but to each their own. And next time you post on these forums, please do not post in all caps.

As I said before, if Assassin's Creed is your type of game, that's great, enjoy. It is not mine. I have been a gamer for well over 30 years , I have a pretty good idea of what type of game I like. If you reread my posts above, I never once bashed the game it's self, I bashed Ubisoft for their marketing strategy and draconian DRM. I simply said the premise is unrealistic, which makes it similar to most other games on the market.

Ubisoft has a history of draconian DRM, for instance just a couple of years ago the DRM they included with Anno 1404(Dawn of Discovery in North America) was so horrendous that people boycotted and refused to buy the game entirely until the DRM was removed by a patch. I have purchased several games over the past couple of years, a lot of them from Indie game developers, and I am very well aware of just what DRM is used on what games.

You are correct, that type of DRM is very hackable and that is exactly why I am so opposed to games and companies that use it. Forcing your customers to jump through hoops and treating them like criminals before the fact to be able to play a game that they have paid good money for is unacceptable in my opinion.
