The "<!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->Arrrrghh<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->" is just added into other words so it is the other words that are changed.
Of course everyone breaks the rule and even I on occasion have been known to post "<!--sizeo:7--><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->R<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->" which definitely changes the spelling.
