Keith could you please ask Akella about the AOS franchise? Also can you ask them about getting Privateer's Bounty working with an nVidia video card?

at the moment our administrator work at the homepage and forum. i hope it will be completly back up soon.

For those, who like to play PB, there is also a mod, that brings sea dogs ships to PB
 
Martes' model and AAR posts revived interested in this old game which I had hiding in a drawer somewhere.

Wondering does anyone know of any good mods, am I missing any patches - etc. I have th Privateers addon, so am up to version 1.03.145. I remember a 'soundings' option from the original AOS2, which i dont see.

Anyway if anyone has any tips for getting the most from that game in terms of a fun campaign let me know, thanks.

Besides what I do now? No idea, really. I haven't found anything.
You can PM me if you want to try my settings, but be warned, there is no scenario compatibility.
 
I've actually never played the whole stock campaigns so I will give them a go first. I do remember some options with AOS2 that seem to be missing with PB - soundings in shallow waters for one.

Also is there an .ini file anywhere that lets me change resolution manually?
 
/resource/txt_res/settings.ini, just on top.

Also, you can go to camera.ini and change CameraMinHeight from 0.4 to 0. That will enable lower viewport angles.

Oh, there were shallow soundings? I should take a look at AOS2 settings then...

But, personally, I would advice against the PB campaigns, they are completely messed up.
 
Never saw the button in PB. The manual mentions shallows, but tells to look for them by sea color only.
So maybe they just cut it out.

Although I found that the camera begins to behave a little differently when near the shore, the level to which it may be lowered with PageDown button becomes higher, so look for it).
 
I was able to finish the Northern Star campaign in just 4 missions. Is that normal? I thought it would be a little longer.

also, does anyone know how to get the ship shadows to work? I can't get them to turn on.

Only 4 missions!! that's dissapointing - i was hoping it would let you work up to command of a fleet of ships of the line
 
The campaigns in the game, as I remember them are mostly tech demos - of what a scenario/campaign editor can do and how.

You definitely can design one that allows you to command a fleet, but it's all DIY.
