Build 15 Ideas (I worked hard on this)

Peter Blood

Privateer
I know it is rather early to begin thinking of a build 15, but just to be prepared; I came up with an idea that could potentially be incorporated into a future mod.

There are different eras which decide which islands are colonized, what they are called, who they are owned by, and what nations are at war with each other. These eras are “Imperial Powers” (1520-1612), “The Buccaneer Heroes” (1613-1685), “The Golden Age” (1686-1760), and “Emperors and Revolutions” (1761-1830)
I will list the islands that should be included later.
So basically, my idea was very similar, yet very different from build 14, some of the same quests, some of the same characters, ECT. My ideas for new storylines would be based around these twelve characters.....

These are their default settings

1. Ballad of the Hawk

Player type: adventurer
Nation: England
Starting location: Victory’s cabin

Description: Embark on an adventure full of battle, scandal, treachery, and romance as you work your way up the ranks to become one of the most famous buccaneers ever. Along your way, you will meet loyal companions, fierce pirates, devious smugglers, and corrupt governors as you attempt to fight the Black Frigate and its curse. With the help of the loyal lighthouse-keeper Clement and the beautiful yet mysterious Danielle, you may one day find all the answers you seek.

2. The Rise of the Libertine Republic
Name: Nicolas Sharpe
Ship name: Bold Sailor
Class: Barque
Player type: corsair
Nation: England
Starting location: Redmond Port
Starting year: 1614 (The Buccaneer Heroes)
Description: In the early 17th century, the English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese had a monopoly of colonies in the New World. They all felt threatened by the pirates who attacked their shipping on their trade routes, so they banned together in an alliance to fight against the growing menace. After being held for three years on a Caribbean Spanish plantation you, a former English privateer from Portsmouth, England start a new life as an English agent in a small British port. The real question at hand is if you will be able to resist the lure of the sea and piracy. Your life may change once you find your long lost father and the meaning of the lure of the sea.

3. Caribbean Tales

Starting year: 1640 (The Buccaneer Heroes)
Description: For many years, the Buccaneer Empire of your father, Nicolas Sharpe, has been flourishing in its full glory, but after his death, his Republic of Libertine has fallen, due to the European fleet’s combined power. After being raised by your father’s friend, Petros, you are now ready to find your late father’s lost treasure and make a name for yourself. After finally landing in the colony of Barbados, you receive a strange letter written in your father’s hand claiming his inheritance goes to his other daughter, your younger half sister Beatrice. The more interesting part of it talks of another sister, a fraternal twin currently dwelling with the harbor master of this small port, your uncle Emanuel Sharpe.

4. The Scourge
Name: Beatrice Sharpe
Ship: Sharpe’s Legacy
Class: Lugger
Player type: adventurer
Nation: France
Starting location: Isla Mona
Starting year: 1640 (The Buccaneer Heroes)
Description: This quest is very similar to that of Blaze Sharpe’s, only from his younger half-sister’s perspective. It is up to her to find the truth about her father and his pirate nation of Libertine. Description: El Patron has been regarded as one of the greatest conquistadors of the 16th century. Though this account has been slightly execrated (due to a certain Captain Sparrow’s narration) it follows the life of the great Spaniard and how he came to the Caribbean and conquered the Aristox tribe on the godforsaken isle of Padres Del Fuego. It begins when he is a young man looking for work in Cuba, all the way to his death on the mythical island of Raven Cove.

He won’t be in this venture alone though, he will have the help of bold comrades such as the Prussian bartender Henry Der Schwartz, the overly optimistic lad Jonathan “Jack” Sparrow, the Cayman governor’s daughter Catherine Dumorgain, and the beautiful yet deceiving and strong minded French buccaneer lass Constance “Zongwa” Du Fleur as they attempt to unearth the lost treasure of Sir Henry Morgan.

7. Master and Commander

Engage in quests depicted in both the books and the Far Side of the World film and some new adventures as well. Not only will you meet familiar characters from the book, but you will also meet other characters not part of the series, such as Alexander Dumas’ character Edmond Dantes, and even the real admiral Horatio Nelson. Your actions may very well affect the fate of Britain.

8. Captain Blood

Ship: Baroque
Class: European Barque
Player type: Military
Nation: England
Starting Location: Port Royale

Description: Much has been speculated about the young years of Henry Morgan. He was without a doubt the most successful English buccaneer and privateer ever to sail the Caribbean in the 17th century. Experience how he arrived in the Caribbean with nothing but a dagger, a clogged up handgun, and the clothes on his bare back; how he served the Governor of Jamaica, how he sacked four of the most wealthy Spanish cities in the New World; and how he became his majesties representative in the Caribbean. There are many twists and turns in his story along with a most intriguing secret regarding the buccaneer’s lost treasure.

10. Carry on Mr. Nelson

Starting location: Port Bombay (Unique Indian Location)

Play through events from Nelson’s famous naval career from the time he began as an officer on a Merchant ship, to his time he was given his first command as a lieutenant during the American War of Independence, his epic campaign against Napoleon, all the way to his brave final stand at Trafalgar. (This isn’t an open ended RPG like the other storylines, but more of mission based one where after completing a set of a few tasks, you begin another set in a different location, for example: Let’s say you must land your ship at a smuggler beach in the Mediterranean, you get out and go to the camp where you must re-provision your ship. You head back to your ship where you sight a French sloop of war and you must get the prize. After beating it, depending on what your quest was, you will jump to an entirely new mission at a new location. Your choices or series of quests may decide your fate such as if you die early, get demoted, or even survive at Trafalgar)

11. A Pirate’s Life For Me
Name: Jacob Riley
Ship: Revenge
Class: Sloop
Player type: Corsair
Nation: England
Starting Location: Revenge’s Deck
Starting Year: 1702 (The Golden Age)

Join him as he not only sails the seven seas in search for treasure, but as he finds his long lost family taken from him ten years ago. Find clues about the whereabouts of your family and the sinister villains who took part in their abduction. Find romance on the high seas as you search for your true love and save her from the clutches of evil. In this scenario inspired from the hit game “Sid Meier’s Pirates”, you will be able to live the life of a Hollywood style action hero/buccaneer. It is a short life, but a merry one, so be sure to accomplish as much as you can in this epic adventure of a lifetime.

12. Take What’cha can, give nothin’ back
Name: Jack Sparrow
Ship: Spreading Freedom
Class: Ketch
Player type: corsair
Nation: England
Starting Location: Spreading Freedom’s hold
Starting year: 1738 (The Golden Age)

Your choices will affect the outcome of your story and if you will succeed in your quest to “cleanse” the Caribbean of the EITC scum. You won’t be alone in this though, you will have loyal companions in your journey that will assist you in your journey. These Choices may even decide if Davy Jones will be defeated in the end, or if he will rule the Caribbean in an iron fist. Prepare to hoist your colours.

Jack Sparrow is a WIP
Master and Commander was started but the writer disappeared.

No offense but posting multiple ideas isnt going to get them done, if you are willing to learn storyline coding we will help you to try and do one of the storylines :yes

Build 15 at the current time is going to be a mix of PotC Build 14 FINAL (when we feel it is a final) and the CoAS CM and on the CoAS Engine (Storm 2.8)

Do you like the idea of a Horatio Nelson or Sid Meier's Pirates qustory quest? I already know about modding and I do it on a regular basis for Knights of the Old Republic, but I can't find any POTC or AOP tutorials.

Admittedly, the tutorials aren't fully comprehensive,
but if you have any questions on "how to's",
just post them on the forum and we'll try to help. :yes

I do like your storyline write-ups and if we could do them all,
they'd definitly add a good mix of different nationalities, periods and historical characters for all to enjoy.
However, each storyline means a lot of work for someone. :shrug

Yeah, that was a major setback. If I could read the tutorials, I could potentially work in one of these characters into build 14 final or a build 15 alpha.

This thread is the best quest-writing tutorial we've got.
Pay special note of Short Jack Gold's posts:
http://forum.piratesahoy.net//making-a-new-quest-t11382.html

I will say this again, Build 15 will most likely be a ported effort of PotC and CoAS Build Mods and Combined Mods

We haven't even finished Build 14; who knows what'll happen for Build 15?
But storylines are not something we plan in advance;
instead, it's something that just "happens" as people decide to make them.
The only thing we did "plan" was the Jack Sparrow storyline and,
to a lesser extent, the Hornblower one.

Basically, if somebody decides to make a storyline (which anybody could do),
we'll add it to the modpack. So if somebody makes a storyline
between Build 14 being finished and Build 15 being finished, it''ll be added for sure.
Unless we've got a friggin' good reason not to, such as it being about giant vegetables! :razz

I will just say that Build 14 Final is still quite away from being completly finished so if you started a storyline now you would probably have it quite done by that time

Ok, I think I will read the tutorials and begin working on a storyline. I am going t start a new thread in the main POTC Build Mod section on which one I should make.

i think seeks to improve seawater .uses the true story ad new textures to ships new merchandise and items and ifyou can change sky

i think seeks to improve seawater
Our ultimate aim is to port all of the Build Mod onto the better Storm 2.8 engine of City of Abandoned Ships, which has considerably better graphics.
yes.gif

uses the true story
The true... PotC movies story [already in progress] or something else?
unsure.gif

ad new textures to ships
I think this will be reviewed for Build 14 Beta 2. Any poor quality or unnecessary textures probably won't stay.
That then makes space for new and improved ones!

new merchandise and items
A lot has already been added, I think, such as new weapons, medication and items. What else do you mean?

and ifyou can change sky
I think the sky was already improved, and looks pretty realistic now. What about it do you think needs improving?

sorry for my English ...I'm learning now how build ships in 3D. I whant rebuild all game models ships making them more realistic Just say you do it very well thanks
I want to improve overall candles

i dont know anything about modiing but when i play the game and see the canons fire etc, it looks good but in real life? they would have the canon shutters down? not open like they are in the game? it would be awesmoe just before a sea battle or anything like this, to give a command to open the canon shutters n watch them open with the canons rolling out. just how they used two!!! :)
just an idea
i dont know if we can could do this.
Adam

Can't do without the source code. Maybe for CoAS, but even then it isn't easy.

That would be unbelievably realistic if it were possible, but it doesn't sound like it is. :facepalm
What I've always wanted to see is more realistic visual damage and fire effects (e.g. cabin glass smashing, cannons being destroyed, real holes made in the hull etc).
But clearly we'd need to reinvent the game engine for that! I can dream, though... xD:
Just makes you wonder what Armada of the Damned would have been like... shame about that. :(
