Well, XBox Pirates has been out for two weeks, and noone has really commmented on it, so I'll start.
I love this game. The whole family loves this game. Between me and the wife and the kids, I don't think it's been turned off more than a few hours since we got it. It accommodates so many playing styles -- the kids like to board everything in site and hack away, my wife likes to play without making anyone mad at her, and I like whopping on Spanish galleons and trying to make the Caribbean into a French or British lake. It's easily the best XBox game we have.
I haven't played the computer version, but from what I read here, several things are easier, such as sailing and dancing. And the controls are excellent. I would much rather use a controller for sword fighting than a mouse and keyboard. (The main downside to POTC on computer when compared to POTC on the XBox is the controls -- fighting and sailing is easier wioth a controller.)
We don't do XBox live, but it looks like all this is is ship to ship battles, which we can play with each other if we want to, so no big loss if we never do it.
We all play this together as kind of a cooperative effort; one person plays and the rest advise and kibitz. This is easy with the XBox and a TV, but impossible on a computer. The kids just finished a unit on pirates in home school, so Pirates fits right in with their studies. Now they know Carribean geography (even if it's a little co mpressed) and they recognize all the names, althought they thought Ann Bonny should have been among the top 10.
Anyway, to summarize: Lots of thumbs up, lots of stars, great family fun, we can all be pirates. Keen sport for everyone.
