Weapons Locker & Boarding Crew

I got some question about the weapons locker.

I know that if you put sword, guns and armor, your crew should use them.

How do they use them?

- are they going to equip the best weapons?
- are they going to equip the best armor?
- what happen if my crew man die?
- do I have to put, bullets and gun powders?

Also,

- what would happen if I put healing pot in there?
- is there a way to disable that feature?
- can I equip each crew member individualy like in the Alpha 6 mod? If so, will they keep what I give them?

I suppose they grab the best items that are available.
There's a WEAPONSLOCKER toggle in PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h.
Powder and bullets are not required; healing items don't work, I think.
The crewmembers you can individually equip are the ones on your deck and those are regenerated each time, so they don't keep what you give them.
 
They equip the "best" weapons, but what is "best" is interpreted by the game and I'm not sure how it works. They like the Bosun's Choice, the asiatic broadsword, the snakehead. They always equip the best armor and pistols.

If you have autolooting on, if a crewman dies I know you don't get back the armor. I don't think you get back the weapons. With manual looting, you get everything back as long as you loot the body. Officers cannot be looted, only crewmen.

I tried putting health potions in the locker. They are not used.

I just made some testing and I can't seem to make the boarding crew to work. I ask one of my crew mate that next time they give me an escort of 3 crew man but when I board the Dutch frig no one except me was there. M'I doing something wrong or I forgot to enable something?

The crew escorts are for on shore; doesn't work for boardings.
 
For witch crew the weapon locker for then?

If there's a fight during boarding you always have your crew there. If you meet the enemy captain alone, you are also alone. This is intentional. Sometimes he fights. This is also intentional. If you can't beat an enemy captain one-on-one, you need to get your melee skills up and find decent weapons and armor. If you're using the experimental initItems.c file you have discovered why it has been replaced. If you are using 1 HP per character level instead of the default 10, you've discovered why this doesn't work.

We need to add code to arm the crew on shore from the weapons locker and give the weapons back when they are dismissed or if they die and you are using auto-loot. This code is already in place for boarding.

Witch boarding crew is it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> When I board the enemy vessel, the only boarding crew with me are my own officers and when the enemy board me it's the same thing.

Talk to each officer you have and tell him to sit out the next boarding. Then you'll be joined by crew members. There are only so many locators for boarders. If your officers fill them all, then you won't see any crew.

Some of the larger decks are 13 versus 7. No matter which side of that fight you're on, you should see some friendly crewmen.

I went into my passenger list and remove my officers, then I board the Dutch ship and I was alone against 7 Dutch soldiers.

Do I have to enable this somewhere to make it work or I really need to ask my officers to stay behind next boarding.

Officers will remember the last thing you told them. I always tell my officers when I hire them to sit out the next boarding, and they never board with me. If you want them to board, you'll need to tell them "Next boarding you're coming with me."

I have no idea why you don't have any crewmen with you. That's just strange. Is it possible that using the crew on shore mod keeps the crew from boarding with you?

I just tried it and still had a full boarding crew. First, make sure you have crewmen. Check your ship screen and tell me the max and min crew numbers and how many crew you have. Second, try boarding a different ship.

Do you have a black crew bar in the icon that shows at the bottom left of the screen for your ship? The only thing I can think of is that you have no crew at all for whatever reason, possibly because they're all in your shore party, although my crew wasn't reduced by my crewmen on shore.

I try everything I could possibly thinking and no luck, I even try buying a frigate and board a differente ship and still no crewmen. Everything is normal no black crew bar or anything suspecious.

I'm not going to try it anymore I never board a ship anyway, I'm always shooting at it until it surrender.

Have you done anything with the boarding models? Are there any errors in your logs about models?

I'm reinstalling the game with pastch 4, I was on patch 3 so maybe it will help. And no I did not mess up with the models but I forgot to check for any error. Stupid of me I'm a modder and forget to check the log. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I was thinking about changing the characters\init\ship.c file to give the 12 crewmembers fist, just in case...
 
Not sure if that file's used anymore; I recall characters aboard your ship are random now.
 
Really? I would ask how does that work??? Then again I'm just to lazy to look for myself. Anyways, I wanted to know is 10 the limit on how many crewmembers to take on shore with you?
