Unfixed Bugs in Build v11

Do you have the latest update to the build? If not, `re-execute` the build installer, check _only_ online updates, point to your POTC folder, and install.

buid Update.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> NathanKell,

I've installed first the Build v10.1.zip.
Then I've installed the `build11-update`.exe (13MB, dated `17-may`-04).
And then I've installed the `build11-update`-only.exe (dated `25-may`-04)

I've also istalled the `build11-extra`-textures.exe (dated `25-may`-04) and the `NK-Build_Europeanpatch`.zip.

And at finish I've installed the FreeBob quest.

I've seen In the Bulid download page but the ChangeLog is still update at `25-may`-04.

Is there something out of date?

If yes, please tell me what I've to download and I will fast run to do it.

Thank a Lot,
Jack Aubrey

You only need the Build 11 files. I believe that if you install Build 10.1 first and then Build 11 directly over it then that potentially cause problems. You also don't need the NK Build European patch as that is included in the Build 11 and installing that will cause problems.

I suggest that you start off with a clean install of POTC.
Then install Build 11, if you have got a European version then put a tick in the European Version and the Localised Files boxes.

Then install the Extra Textures and then the Build Updates.

After that you can install the latest version fo Catalina's Fred Bob quest.

Hello !

Well, it's probably not a bug and i am not sure about it. But i got the
feeling recently that the abilities of NPC Captains don't work for their
ships. Because it is kind of funny to take a level 101 Captains ship
apart with a wagonload of crits. Besides i shot about 2.5 salvoes in the
time he releases 1.

I guess this is not a bug per se, because in the vanilla version the
captains don't even have skills (or name), but shouldn't they work ?

Laterz !

I've often wondered about that, DM - seems sometimes that the AI just isn't very "I" <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> - presumably tho, if an officer commanding one of your own ships is set up correctly with good officers and a full crew, they'll respond better in a battle...

Enemies? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Take a look at some of their stats, they don't seem to have their abilities assigned at all! And more often than not, they're taking a lot of time between shots because they are reloading - why, I'm not sure...

Have you tried upping your difficulty level? It does seem to have an effect on how your enemy reacts during battle.

Well for i while i was playing as Adventurer but the '`Level-101`-incident'
happened to me after i switched to swashbuckler.

I already noticed they don't have their abilities assigned, which leads to
the question : Should it work that way ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

I guess one could design a '`skill-table`' where certain abilities are
assigned to captains based on their Levels (maybe some additional
ones 'cause he for sure has some officer too, even though he might
be a rookie) like the way it was done many times in various RP's
for random encounters, to save some time for the DM.

I mean you will still be able to outmaneuver them at will, but at least
they won't sink by just looking sternly at them, anymore.

Just a suggestion....

Laterz ! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

That's a bug in CreateOfficer, probably. I added new OFFIC_TYPEs for captains and their skill weights, but probably forgot ability weights.

I'll confirm in a sec.

Found the problem. In order to assign perks it first checks to see if char already has the perk, but instead of !CheckAttribute (to see if the attribute is _not_ there) it does CheckAttribute, so it will never _ever_ assign perks because of course the perk isn't _already_ there to be checked.

build 11 bug...

In the main quest, looking for the french traitor, when I exit the tavern at Quebradas Costillas (pirate island) everything gets locked. EVERYTHING. Even my boat is locked, I only can get to the dock with the quick travel. Otherwise I can't go anywhere without the quick travel, I can't even save the game. Can't exit the town, can't enter any house or place, etc. Bugs ahoy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> ... help pleaaase!!!!!!!!!!!!

Latigoso,

Welcome to the site! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

This just happened to another guy, hopefully you have a previous save game that you can load;

1. Make sure you don't have any officers accompanying you when you land on QC,
2. Don't use fast travel, especially if it is the first time you are going to the pirate island, walk to the fort and go in the gate.
3. You'll encounter two guys fighting, deal with that encounter however you want and then go to the tavern to ask about Rheims.

If you have a game saved prior to going to the taven at QC you should be all right.

Let us know if you need more help. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

I´ve posted this a few months ago, but these bugs still aren´t fixed. I have not updated to the latest build patch file, I´m using the first version of build 11. But it shouldn´t matter anyway, cause there are now mention of these in patches changelog.

Quest Related Bugs:

-Missing quest name in the quest book for the quest to free old man (Clement Aurentius).

-After finishing the "Get details from Governor" quest and then going into the lighthouse location with golden idol, old man (Clement Aurentius) says that Danielle Greene is missing. You then get a quest "To Isla Muelle", but it is already crossed out when you get it. Not a big issue, but still...

-Artos Volley quest is bugged so that he doesn't get shot in redmond(?) port and his quest cannot be finished.

Other Bugs:

-After the storm cutscene where you lose your ships and money, you found yourself at Douwesen beach. Some time after that when you are at lighthouse location at Oxbay (you escaped from the pirate ship.). Old man (Clement Aurentius) offers you his boat. After getting that boat, two bugs are found:

1. Boat has no name (name label is "Error") and no proper picture.

2. Crew morale(?) mod becomes screwed somehow, so that you don't see anymore information that shows how much rum and food is left when you are in worldmap. Not even then when you get your ships and crew back.

-After encountering the "Black Pearl" ship first time, it starts to show up quite often exspecially during island sea battles. And sincle it is undestructable and it attacks me straight away, I have to load my previous save often. In the unpatched/modded game you didn't encounter "Black Pearl" anymore after it's first show up and it didn't attack you if you didn't attack it first. Temp fix is to disable the land traffic/battle mod.

-The first time you meet the Danielle Greene at the Redmond Bar. After talking to him, a few english soldiers comes to arrest him. After a short battle Danielle runs off the Bar. Normally a few english soldier comes to arrest you just after Danielle disappears, but if you are walking/running during the time when Danielle runs off the Bar, game crashes just after Danielle disappears. So you have to stand still so that that the game won't crash and the guards comes out normally. I'm not a script expert, but this could be fixed by freezing the players movement during that sequenge (this is also used various other situation in the game).

Thanks a bunch, mateys. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Scratchy_McNuts,

Welcome to the site! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I'm under the impression that you're playing the game with Build 11, and the only thing that I can offer is to press the "t" key before you get on your ship to sail away from Isla Muelle to Oxbay. I have never seen that part of the game go correctly, what is supposed to happen is you get dropped into a sea fight near Oxbay, where you rescue the ship you are supposed to escort, but invariably I get teleported to a tavern at Oxbay from the map and I have a short discussion with the Captain before we sail back.

Let us know if the "t" gets you back on tack. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Nice sig! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
