Help. I just installed the updates to build 12, the latest being post_b12_upd_25-5-06. I tried to (yes- it is quite silly of me to do this, but I just love blowing up ships to the fullest extent before I run them over. Sorry. Heheheh. I know it changes certain aspects of the naval gameplay, but I can't resist.) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Anyway, I want to give my ship- currently the manowar gub - guns that amount to over a hundred, and around 9000 crewmembers. I still succeeded in giving it 68 caliber fort guns, but that's about the only thing I can modify without getting a weird side effect. Before I downloaded the latest update, I succeeded in giving the manowar up to 3000 guns <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> and 9990 or so crewmembers.

I also have Build 12 installed, and use to be able to modify the ship stats in the "Ships_init.c" file before that... now I cannot.

Anyone know how/why that is? I'm sure it's because there are global scripts/setting over-riding it, but where is that? And why? And does anyone know how we can manually modify ship stats now?

Thanks.

Well, with all the massive over-complexity added to everything dealing with every ship in the world map... I would imagine the game is simply running out of resources to deal with a ship that could have 3000 cannon.

ME PERSONALLY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MOD the ship stats as far as speed,turn rate , capacity etc............havent messed with the cannon numbers or the personel amount either to any great extent

I believe for the amount of guns to work, you don't just need to change init_ships, but also the ship's GM model file: You need to add new locators for the 3000 guns or they won't fire and they won't do damage either.

There is a mod that makes each and every ship slightly different. Maybe that mod also prevents you from making ships extraordinarily good. However, changing some stats in ships_init works just fine. But make sure you at least press in your loaded game to make the changes take effect. Better start a new game. Also note: If you have a ship in the game, then change the stats, the stats in the game will be the same as they were before you changed the stats, because the stats are saved for every ship. If you want the new stats to take effect, you have to buy a new ship; that WILL have the new stats.

That is exactly as I have observed it!

BTW:
For the past month I've been sailing around in game with a 30 gun Light Galleon, based on the Fleut.

I know you don't like Fleuts but this is becoming one of my favorites!

Nice. You happen to have a screenshot? I like Fleuts much more if they have a green stern. Makes them look more Dutch. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The problem with these Flute Models is that they are poorly mapped at the stern.
The textures get mirrored form the side aft section, mixed in with a partial stern texture.
Makes it very hard to get good rendition.
The flute has other poor design problems like a poor lateen sail the wraps around the mizzen mast (I fixed this), and no railing on deck, I wish someone could fix this.

But I'll see what I can do.

Anyway, what I've done so far is:

1. use some of Hawks rigging, bow and large flag, but changed sails so that you can see unobstructed over the bow, and so national/custom sails show better.
[attachmentid=481]
[attachmentid=482]

2. changed the lateen sail and spar for a Galleon's, so it no longer wraps around the mizzen mast.

3. changed the Fleut2_walk.c file so crew no longer look like they're floating two feet above deck.

4. changed camera start point to near where shot was taken

5. used some of Hawks guns, and added two guns to the stern, giving it 2, 12, 12, 4 for a total 30 guns.

6. used my deck.tga.tx file to give it Bronze cannon.

7. used my red sail file, also added national/custom sail capability.
[attachmentid=483]
8. many stat changes, I am about the test again but now as a class 3 ship, Light Galleon

9. complete re-skin.

NICE! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Great job, Petros! Like usual! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

Could you post the actual green you would like?

BTW:
I'm thinking I should re-visit /re-do the war galleon.
Perhaps I might put all of my ships/improvements etc. into one file.

To Petros: About the MoW models.. dont you think they look too much alike? Thus, would you possibly endeavor to make MoW skins or reskins that are a bit more diverse?

Mine was the first MOW re-skin and the first one with white along the 3 gun decks.

I have not kept up with what others have added, but I don't think I'll be changing mine any further.
I'm Happy with how it looks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> although older brass cannons might be nicer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Ahoy thar Petros, have a mug oh Rum on me my Lad.....tis great tew be seein yer ugly Face around these parts agin tew be sure. I have tew be admitting you do great work! Will this be applying to all the galleons in the game, or does that require each model tew be done by its oncey. I actually might like to be taking one of them fair ladies to the dance more often now that you have brighten them up a little....great job mate!

Tis really grand !

Me drinks ta that! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I am thinking of reworking the War Galleon which was the first ship I added and which I think really could be improved.

The others which might need some minor tweaks are the "Merchantman" and the "Light Galleon" which I haven't uploaded yet.
The MOW 50 Gub, the "Light Frigate2", the "Pirate Corvette", and the "Privateer" might not need any work but I plan to look them over again anyway, hopefully before any major Build 13 release.

Just realized, I've been building a pirate fleet! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
Might the Cutter be next?

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />, Petros. May I ask: are you familiar with the paint scheme of the Santisima Trinidad, the Spanish flagship at Trafalgar?

Saw it once ... on these boards, but I don't remember exactly, now.

Lots of red and yellow, right?

Anyway, I really don't like Mows but I do sail mostly for Spain in game, so it might be doable.
