Tropico 2 - Pirates Cove

I'm sure you other pirates in here have played this one, or heard about it. What were your impressions? One part of the game had a pretty unique feature, where you would send your pirate ships offscreen for plunder than you would get a report about the ships they captured and the booty they made off with, which of course went into your coffers. If they were successful you would hear a cannon going off which would quickly be followed by the report of how they did. Occasionally you could lose your ship. The other part of the game is a building simulation where you try to build up your pirate island and can use the poor saps you capture with your ships as slaves to build up your economy.
I don't know if they ever came out with a third to that series, the first was Tropico but in that one you were just a corrupt dictator in the Caribbean, there was no pirate angle to it.

Try Anno 1701, that's not bad. It's sort of the same style but the graphics are much better!

the comments of your subjects are hilarious, but i hate the overly complicated menu's.

I have this game and I like it. I do wish they would remake it so that after you build a ship and send it on a mission you can go with it if you wanted.. However, trying to keep everyone happy on the island I think makes this game fun. And I like those skeltons you can get to do the hard labor. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

well, i thought it was bit overly complicated, but fun.

I have the first one in that series and have been meaning to give 1701 a try. As for Pirates Cove, mine is collecting dust also so I know what you mean. I forgot if there were difficulty levels or not but the last time I played it I won and it seemed that the pirate ship aspect of it never fully got developed. That is I barely explored all but a part of the caribbean looking for plunder when suddenly the game was over. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

I actually enjoyed this game. Two major reasons, I've always been a fan of pirates, then add to that the 'Sim-City' type building part and it just makes it to cool. **grins** I'm just a freak like that I suppose.

Your not alone Cap'n. Plenty here be fans of Pirates and more than enough like the offbeat games as well. I hope that they do make another one in this series that's pirate themed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Actually I would also like to see and play such game: mixture of pirates and make - buildings etc.

So you`re definetly not alone <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
