i'm not sure about this, but i could give you a hint: try swimming as far as you can in any direction.good guide! really helped me out.
I did however encounter another treasure map, at Cayman the Sand Bluffs' beach. It said to look in a cave, only thee was no entrance. Now I was lucky and found a point in the jungle where you fall through, into the cave. It has the same structure as the cave outside Oxbay, and inside I found the treasure (turned out empty) at a sword spawn. If anyone wants more detail I'll try to post some screenshots.

Moor at the beach, and follow the path into the next area.
Then take the left path further into the jungle.
Here the path splits in two, one around the hill and one straight to the next area. Instead of moving on, walk up the hill and look down to the spot just beyond the u-bend of the path. (!Pirates are common here and attack in large groups!)
Then stand in or very near the circle.
You are standing in a tunnel facing one way, and as soon as you appear there is a pirate/smuggler attacks you from behind. When you turn to kill him, keep facing that way and continue along the tunnel. At the intersection turn right. The very first right after that is the exit, but if you go out there you can't return to the cave unless you look for the point where you fell. So, instead of taking this tunnel take the second one right. After that the first one left and walk all the way through to the sword pickup. Retrace your steps to the exit and you end up in the final area where the road would've ended had you taken it.
EDIT: Images aren't great quality, but I used a 1260x1024 screen for the shots. Scaling them down ruined them. Btw, praise Fraps!!

So from what I understand here if I am given a map I SHOULD find a chest ...empty or full but a CHEST...so the fact I am not finding a chest period...either means I am looking in the wrong spot or ????
I'm a bit confused with this. I followed the directions to the letter....
now I am getting intrigued about this " locator '...if someone could fill me in on it I'd appreciate it.

Boca Hubon...it looks so EASY...but nothing...no indicator..in fact I cant even find spots that look like the screenies exactly...was content added ?
I should at least FIND the spot to dig right ? then its either no treasure or treasure ? -
