Time for some pimpin´ of me hobby!

I know this forum is primary for modding a game with ships, adventures, waves, lots of new adventures and seagulls.
Well, I feel fortunate to have a hobby that, in addition to the game, bring the taste of the salty sea, the constant blowing wind, the screams from the seagulls and new adventures in the horizon right in my face! Whenever I can, as often as I can <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

This is the fine yacht "Klitta" (yes, fellow pirates, I know the name is somewhat unfortunate <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> ) on which I am a member and part of her organization. She is 14 metres long (44 ft) and 4 metres wide. She goes 1.65 deep and runs 145 sqaremetres of sail in a fresh breeze.

She was build 15 years ago and it took a wooden shipbuilder from Laesoe (a small island in Kattegat) all the space available in his little shipyard, an old drawing of a yacht called Castor build in 1867, 8 months of his life and the required skills to cravel the oakplanks on the side to the spans already layed, which also were made of oak. A heavy ship, indeed! But then again, the original was meant for heavy transporting of wood, corn and people across the seas around Denmark.

She is really supported by the scout organizations and is meant to sail with scouts (children) but I dont care about all that. I am in for the maintance, repairs, participate in races and take a sweep around the Aarhus Bay tuesdag afternoons <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

THAT's a pretty boat! I like sailing; used to do it as well. It's been quite a while since I actually did it though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Well, I feel fortunate to have the opportunity. A trip to the countryside or a walk in the forest does not quite do the same. Although she looks good alright, she is quite broad in the sides and not that good a sailor and only tops 4 knots when the wind is in from aft and turns 8-9 knots when the wind is coming from above 90 degrees in the side..dont know what its called in english, we call it "bidewind". But she is indeed very gentle in hard weather and does not chop too much in the waves astern.

If you have the chance to sail for real - grab it I say..You know it will do you good! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

As we had a really good offer from a shipyard, we layed her up in march for some major maintenance. With wooden ships, there is always something that need attention hehe. Now, I know somebody took pictures of that and I will try to upload them as soon as I get hold of them.

i made something like that out of lego once. i've always liked those funny top bucketsail (don't know the english name) gaffs.

Niiiiice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> I suggest them to change their clothes with something more historic. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Oh we did sail with pirates!
I remember a harbour festival last summer. We transported passengers from one pier to another. Suddenly a presumably drunk party from an actor´s guild boarded the vessel, laughing and swinging their plastic-cutlasses, cheered out lout in pirate-phrases I never heard before in english, raised the pirate-flag and created a total chaos aboard. My crewmembers sweared and got upset, I agreed "Damn youth" while smiling, thinking "Oh how I wish they were real!!" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/shoot.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shoot:" border="0" alt="shoot.gif" />
