This game blows!

Thank you ddmagnan, for clearing that up for me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
I have not even thought about that he is pushed further back with the
pistols, probably because I have gotten the brace of pistols at an early
stage in the game both times I have started a new career.

This is very interesting. But I think that we can agree that there are...what should I call them...Schools of pirates game now.

We have the Akella "school" in which the game is more concentraited on ship to ship battle and fort to ship battle, with excellent graphics. They created Sea Dogs, and had a sequal to that bought it away and is known as Pirates of the Caribbean. But Akella lacks a little in historical accuracy and the avaters are basic.

We have the Sid Meiers "school" in which the game is more concentraited on just enjoying life as a pirate, with a acrade feel to it. This is the father to pirate games with Pirates!. It has a good ship combat, but not comparable to Akella. Once again, lacking in historical accuracy and it's own avaters. But it is more cartoonish than Akella.

We have the Ascaron "school" that has created games like Port Royale, Port Royal 2, and Tortuga. They are more or less concentraited on being a merchant than a pirate. The work put into ships are weak compared to Akella. It is very different from either Sid or Akella.

Those are the main three schools, but there is a step up from Akella with Pirates of the Burning Sea. It is historically accurate, and has the graphics for ships from Akella, but it is still being designed, and is still adressing avaters. It is also not a commoner, due to it is only avaible on the internet. Besides that, the three "Schools" all have advantages, except none are historically accurate. I have thought about it, and there is no way to combine them good. You are playing "Akella" or "Sid Meier's Arcade". The only way to make a ultamite game is to improve one game up to perfection.

Sid Meier's Pirates isnt that much more historicly accurate than Sea Dogs. While I think BOTH games are FUN, they both are similar. The difference in my eyes is that Sid's Pirates feels more `arcade-ish`, while Sea Dogs feels more like a story.

Some kind of combination of both would be great. I like the style of Pirates! the Interface, the gameplay and the mood. But It lacks meat, Why should I keep playing If I have already done everything? Thats how I feel.

I thought what I posted expressed what you said, but I guess not. But that is a good comparrison, Sea Dogs a story, Pirates! a arcade game. But Pirates! is by far worse than Sea Dogs in historical accuracy. I have never seen cutlasses that big in Sea Dogs compared to Pirates!

Agree, but hell, a story is much more interesting if it has some HUGE swords in it, don't u think so ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> That's why a lot of ppl like Conan better than some musketeer movie. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Last night I played Pirates! for 10 hours in a row, and when i checked the time i felt like an Enterprise janitor trapped in a `space-time` rift thingie <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
