OMG this game sucks a$$! I cant beleive that I even waited for this game. I have never been this disappointed in a game in a long time. I think I'll just stick to the better piratey game... Port Royale 2.

C'mon Sid... you could have done better than this... your supposed to be a gaming god!

I have to admit the dancing mini game is pretty fun and unique. But the rest of the game just falls short of every expectation! I mean, the sword fighting is just plain retarded. And chasing this Raymondo character over and over and over to get the same clues to your families whereabouts is equally as retarded. I can go on but I wont.

I'm dissappointed to say that after ONLY 3 days of playing this game... I'm shelving it.

While I dont feel as strongly as you I do agree that this is nowhere near as captivating as the first. But you liked te dancing? Thats the worst part of the game.

I am having a hard time accepting that this game looks and feels more Disney, then a certain pirate game that actually loads up with the Disney logo.

I think that's a little harsh - this is a site for fans of pirate games, not a Sid Meier's fansite.

I agree. It's not the same as the original Pirates. They really cheesed out on a lot of stuff, although I agree with you the dancing `mini-game` can be fun.

In my opinion the reward for best pirating game in the last few years belongs to the original Port Royale. I put hours and hours into that game. Port Royale 2 kind of stunk with how they did `ship-to`-ship combat. It turned it into more of a trading simulator because you didn't WANT to resort to piracy.

donjn, that was rather rude and uncalled for.

The guy has a right to express his opinion. I didn't see him using foul language or personally insulting anyone directly.

Imagine the following scenario...
Some kid from a poor family is given money for his birthday to buy just one game. If all opinions stated about Pirates! could only be positive, and the kid buys the game and hates it, well he's going to feel pretty down on all those people who said it was great. The kid should read reviews both positive and negative in order to make an informed decision as to where his cash should go.

Remember that you may disagree with peoples opinions, but you should also defend their right to express them. That's what democracy and free speech is all about. Think about the wider issues, not just the fanboi party line.
 
Lapdog, have you tried playing on the higher difficulty levels? You might find the swordfighting and other tasks a bit more challenging.

i like it.....this game is great for when you just want something to play that is not too deep, like after a long day at work......if you bought thinking it would provide unending depths of gameplay than you should have read some reviews before you bought it.....games like this require some imagination too
 
Hey, don't lose hope yet.... lots of mods may be on the way.

The game is average at the best. Looks like the dev are forgotten it is 21 century outside. The funnies part are the sea battles - if it was year 1999, not 2004. Everything other os worse then mediocre. This is just a shameless try to milk the franchise.

i disagree....I have never played the original game so the "franchise" didn't get me to buy this....seriously read the reviews on all the major web sites.....they clearly say that the game can get repetitive and it is not the deepest game.....the world detail and fun factor of this game is top notch.....

Why am I getting hassle for telling a poster that I dont want him around here anymore (which technically why would he continue to post on a board about a game he hates except to troll)?

I mean he makes a post that goes like this:

Go on any message board about any new game that comes out and a post like that would get flamed. The rest of his post is good but the first comment had troll written all over it.

Then Captain_Python jumps in and is still sore about my "moron" comment EVEN through I told him I was sorry! Man this is frustrating. Everyone tells me this is a board to voice their opinions. I guess I am not allowed. Whatever.
