The truth is that there won’t be Sea Dogs 2. Actually, there will be much more than that.
Here we received more than 10.000 emails from fans of Sea Dogs and POTC with their wishes, desires and suggestions. So the team was doing the game previously known as Sea Dogs 2 using both ideas that they had to cut off from POTC and ideas from fans’ feedback. There was really lot of ideas. And it is surely game made for players and for fans of Sea Dogs.
The game has far overgrown the “Sea Dogs†title, so now it’s changed to “Age of Pirates†for worldwide release. In Russia, it will ship as “Corsairs 3†(Sea Dogs was Corsairs, and POTC was technically Corsairs 2).
Main news are: the game is huge. Real map of Caribbean. Five nations: English, Spanish, French, Dutch and Pirates... Basically, Age of Pirates is a totally `non-linear` “pirate RPGâ€, with absolute freedom of gameplay, tons of randomly generated quests, powerful trading system, developing NPC’s, controlling, managing and upgrading towns and forts... New fencing system. Advanced ship upgrades (hulls, masts, guns etc.). Smuggling. And much more. (For example, player can even sell prisoners he captured to slavery). As a result, the game will be different every time you play it. Also, there will be several multiplayer modes.
Release date is set for Q1 2005.
That’s all for now... Expect the official `press-release` soon! And more news on this and other Akella’s projects.
Cheers!
