The final Name for the Ascaron game is Tortuga: Two Treasures! Just saw it on the net today.

In Germany it will be released April 2006. Bob Bates and Noah Falstein are responsible for the Story (its about Thomas ‚Hawk’ Blythe and his bitter rival Blackbeard).
Ascaron says that the game will have some features never before seen in any Pirate Game.

Sadly I don't have much time to visit PA! at the moment, but I'll try to keep you informed about Tortuga.
 
Graphics look decent,liked some O' game features,combo moves fer sword fights,sneak'n up on enemy vessels at night in a longboat an' sabatog'n them,storyline sounds fun,Characters look interest'n enuff,I'd buy this game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I can really see this as a Pirates! 1.5

The first preview said something about being very linear though.

I still dont know why they make pirate games linear, sort of defeats the purpose type thing
 
Aye Keith,it does say some freedom in how ye play,but players will 'ave te follow storyline closely,which I 'd besuppos'n is find Morgans treasure an eventuly deal wid Blackbeard and his treasure.I like idear O' them making land battles as prominent as sea battles,stealth missions on land an sea,steal'n ships from drydock and sneaking up on soldiers for a one shot kill,along with long boat stealth of sabatog'n ships if ye sneak past thar watch.Ships that actauly must show damge as he said he lost some cannons in a batltle,masts fall'n an such.Also I really liked the part whar he mentions ships approch'n you signal with a flag,an if ye 'ave right recognition flag,ye can pass yerself of as freindly an sneak attack.One thing I'd not be care'n for,is ye can only control one ship at a time.although iI'd prefer te be sail'n on me own,still like the option so as te carry more booty than me ship can hold <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
I must say, this game looks more and more promising. I think that Ascaron could deliver us really a good Pirate game.
Well only Problem with Ascaron is, while they often make really good games (which I really lfind great like Sacred, Port Royale 1&2 and Patritician 3) they are often quite buggy and need alot bugfixing until it works fine. Well Ascaron is at least a company who then does the bugfixing and don't let it be fixed only by fans (like PotC).
The only game they brought out nearly bugfree was Port Royale 2.

Yeah, it is shaping up to be their best pirate title so far, no doubt about that.

Will be interesting to see what else it has to offer after the main story line
