Swirling halo during a swordfight?

Cap'n Toast

Freebooter
Okay, I meant to ask this the other day, but what the heck does the little swirling Earthlink looking halo thing above my head mean. I read in the manual that when you have the advantage, your attacks are faster. Is that what that is? Didn't have that in beta and I can't find any mention of it in the manual.

Happens when you slash attack and he jumps. You spin round and get dizzy. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Not like any pirate I know. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hmmm... I tried to pay more attention to it in this last round of play and I can't seem to pin it down to anything.

marketing gimic... that's a great commercial!

Speaking of which, I noticed some captains have some nifty `counter-attacks`. Is there any ability to do things like this? (It'd be cool if we could learn and use them too.)

The swirling circles are when your dizzy. At least from what I've determined, except a few times I've been given then after a successful attack. Especially when you push him down the stairs and slide down the rail to meet him, You end up with the circles.

The game seems to randomly allow you to do those counter moves. I personally have done the one where you swing on the rope and the one where you jump backwards onto your hand. They are not common, but you can do them. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

I've noticed if you use a combo like low, then immediately mid or high after that, it uses a nearby object like a bucket / sickle. Not 100% confirmed though.
