The Saint Albans by Sisko is now on the FTP along with his custom textures as well, this ship as well as Kris Woods Centurion are currently two of the most highly anticipated ships awaiting addition to Pirates of the Burning Sea.

Here are the WIP threads for both ships if anyone is interested (both these ships were started way back in 2008 or maybe earlier so a lot of work has gone into them):

Centurion by Kris Wood

Regards,

Wooh..proffessional work! But please, would´nt it be quite illegal to put these ships on the ftp?

Sisko sent me the files himself to be used in the build mods so permission to use the St Albans has been obtained, while Kris is already working on converting his own work into the Storm Engine see here: http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php/topic/17488-ships-to-offer/

Regards,

Sweet! :woot are either of these fine ships in the storm engine yet? or is it just the models and textures that are up?

Well if the creators themselves send them from heaven.... I´ll follow the herd and say thanks as well in your link, SeaNorris.

I realize its not really a priority (at least not for me I have too many unfiinished projects right now :wp ) But has anyone been able to open the files for either one of these ships? I have tried on multiple occasions out of curiosity but it appears the files are corrupted. :?

I just checked the file, and it's not corrupted; the only problem is it was made using Maya 2010, so won't open in Maya 5.0.
That is, unless you HEX edit the file so it will open in Maya 5.0... here you go: http://www.pyratesah...bans_Maya5.0.7z ;)

One thing I noticed is that the model has around 140,000 polygons- and that's before triangulating them for exporting to GM format!
The main offender seems to be the cannons; they're worth nearly 90,000 polygons alone!
So, I've removed all the cannons and extra content that isn't needed (except the sails, which can act as a guide for the locators),
and got the model down to just over 50,000 polygons. Here's the optimised version: http://www.pyratesah...is/StAlbans1.7z

EDIT: re-uploaded optimised version; it's now to the correct scale, in metres, for exporting to GM.

Wow, Thanks! really an extremely well done ship! cant say I wouldve chosen to build a 50 gunner of all the types of two deckers, but still, we dont currently have a 50 gunner in game, so it works out pretty well. :cheeky Actually think it could mount as many as 64 guns including chasers if 2 guns a side are mounted on the forcastle and bow chasers added, but we shall have to see, that may be overgunning a bit. I may make getting this ship into POTC my next project after the Revolutionnaire is launched. :) But the Centurion would be really nice too, do you think you could hex edit the files for the Centurion as well at some point?

I could do the Centurion too, yes. And you're right, the St Albans is a real beauty! :keith

I won't be able to convert Centurion, I just don't have time to learn the conversion process with my life being as busy as it is right now. I can upload the latest version of the model though if you want. There's a new figurehead and a place to put bow chasers. :)

I would like to see the latest version Kris as I want to see how you modeled the figurehead. :yes

I see that Sisko has also been remodeling the figurehead on the St Albans as well: St Albans Figurehead Side and St Albans Figurehead Front so it must be contagious. xD:

Regards,

KrisWood, that would be great! :woot Bow chasers are always a good thing, as is improved detail. I will try to convert the centurion (at least as far as I know how) but not for awhile yet, after the three ships I have built are ingame (the Prince de Neufchatel, the Volage, and the Revolutionnaire)
