Spanish Treasure Fleet

When they tell you, for example, "The Spanish Treasure Fleet is heading to Rio de la Hacha", what can you do with this information? Can you attack the fleet at sea, or can you attack the town when the fleet is in and get mega money like in the original? Is there galleons that say "Spanish Treasure Fleet"?

When they tell you that a ship is heading to one place from another it means you have a chance to intercept it at sea. Pay attention when they display the route on the map and it will also show you an icon that marks the current location of the ship on the route. You just have to rush to that part of the ocean and look around for the ship.

Have you actually encountered the treasure fleet? I was sailing around Rio de la Hacha for months and sure there were some treasure galleons, but not a treasure fleet. I appreciate you answering my question, but I need a more specific answer.

Has anyone SEEN the spanish treasure fleet?

Not here either <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_twisted.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_twisted.gif" />

I have run into a bunch of Spanish Treasure ships at once. There was like four of them in a row that I plundered one at a time. I think that is what the treasure fleet is. Just a bunch of treasure ships sailing together on the same route, but they are not all grouped together like a ship and it's escort.

When they say a Treasure fleet do they mean a fleet of many galleons ( 5,6,7,10 ) or just single ship ??

The treasure fleet just refers to one or more treasure ships sailing from one point to another in the Spanish main. You are lucky to see more than two at a time. However, just hang around at Caracas and the barmaid will tell you about the treasure fleet loads of times going to Puerto Caballo.

A question here: I've encountered treasure galleons from other countries as well! I thought the `treasure-fleet` was a spanish thing, but I've attacked both an english and a french treasure ship too.

Yes treasure fleets so far only seem to be individual or small grouped ships...often now they are under escort too....dont know if that is a common thing but it only started once i had plundered several of them.

I'm Curious? How much do you guys normally get when plundering these?
I've gotten between 2000 - 5000 gold...which seems really lame....considering the thousands u got in the original.

In the original, capturing a ship from the treasure galleon yielded about 11.000, capturing the town with the fleet in harbour got you about 50.000. The only drag was, even if you caught the treasure fleet in a wealthy town like Havanna or Cartagena, you just got the 50.000, while plundering these towns without the fleet in harbour got you something on the sunny side of 100.000. I wonder if it´s like this in the new one as well.

I can't seem to see a method to see if there are any ships in harbour at all. As far as I know, ships are created as soon as they leave harbour.

silver train

Was circling around rio de la hacka but didnt find it either. Anyone ever heard anything of the silver train?

This is different than when you hear about a ship going from some place to the other. This is not your average treasure galleon.
I've heard about this treasure fleet coming to Cumana for almost 20 years now (ingame), but never seen it. The barmaid just says the spanish treasure fleet is going to cumana every time I'm in the area, she doesn't state any name of the ship and you don't see any map... I'm guessing this has something to do with the silver train, but it all may just be a hoax..

The destination of the treasure fleet is obviously random from game to game though, but it doesn't change in each game. Like I said.. 20 years I've been waiting for this damn thing to show up... Pretty annoying! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

edit - Her exact words is:
"It's rumored that the Spanish treasure fleet is headed for Cumana with a fortune in gold bullion!"
