Commander Charles Tucker III. aka Trip was the Chief Engineer on the Enterprise NX-01. Or will be, or maybe, or whatever...
Very funny and entertaining character, though, so it's really no offense. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Favourite line:
Captain Jonathan Archer: "I didn't know you drank wine?"
Vulcan Science Officer T'Pol: "Under the circumstances, I'll allow myself a small indulgence."
Trip: "Make mine a large indulgence!"

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

btw: didn't watch it on TV either... downloaded every single episode with emule <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Hate the translated stuff on TV (am not from the US)

Talking of which (watching TV): anyone else from Germany here, who saw the documentary just now 'bout Blackbeard? Nice stuff!

Yes, the National Geographic dvd; I have it. It isn't bad, but seemed a little dry. For something titled "Terror at Sea", Blackbeard didn't seem too terrorizing. Although the bit where he chopped off the Frenchie's finger wasn't bad. I don't know, James Purefoy seemed miscast to me..
And if they'd included a few more of the things Blackbeard was known for, it would've been better. Like the real reason he shot Israel Hands. Not to save his life, but purely for the hell of it. The source of his famous quote: "If I didn't kill one of the crew now and then, they'd forget who I was!"
Or the time he had himself and some of the crew locked in the hold with burning pots of sulfur to simulate being in hell, and to see who could stand it the longest. Now those would've made good scenes! Ah well, at least they did make something about Blackbeard; it was long overdue.
Oh, and Hawkeye, now I get what you meant by "Trip". But the Tucker you see in my avatar is a little bit of 1960s tv trivia. That Tucker was quite the character too. Although many here probably have no idea who Alonzo P. Tucker was; long before their time...

Hmm, I think that is another version, because in the German TV version there was in fact one scene, where they would all sit in the hold inhaling sulfur gases, with Blackbeard sending everyone out finally, and, lighting a pipe, exclaiming that he needs silence to think... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

It was called "Blackbeard - Der wahre Fluch der Karibik", " - the true curse of the caribbean" -- a little allusion to POTC as its title in Germany was "Fluch der Karibik".
And this is in fact the documentary you mentioned, with James Purefoy as Blackbeard. Just maybe as another version. Will be rerun on Pro7 this sunday at 13.20 (CEST), according to their website.

Sounds like the European version is a little different than the American one. Will have to check into the British version; maybe it is the same as the German one..
