"Sir! It's the Enterprise!"

Hi there, everybody. How you doin'? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Me, I don't have as much free time as I used to have. Hence my dissapearance for the last few months. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Anyway, congrats on finishing yet another Build. I've noticed it even has a big shiny <i>USS Constitution</i>, so, I've been inspired to finish an old project of mine: <i>Star Trek: Generations USS Enterprise</i> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

As some of you might know, before starring as <i>HMS Interceptor</i>, <i>Lady Washington</i> had already starred in another movie (the aforementioned <i>Star Trek: Generations</i>, potraying holographic representation of brig <i>Enterprise</i>. Due to small budget (and relatively small role), she wasn't extensively modified and had her usual paint scheme.

That, my good sirs, would simply not do. Not do at all <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> So, I've decided to model "proper" brig <i>Enterprise</i>, using movie version as a base, but with proper color scheme, and some other... modifications.

So, without a further ado - 24-gun brig <i>Enterprise</i>:

And yes, I've finally managed to squeeze in two chase cannons <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> The model itself is practically finished, although I might puty some more finishing touches on texture.

Now, the bad news: I don't have PotC with me, so I have no way of providing you with finished ship. All I can do is to provide you with unconverted model in format of your choosing. As I understand, you are finally capable of properly exporting ships via Maya, right, guys? So, this shouldn't be much of the problem, right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

KAZEITE! Welcome back! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
Nice job on the Enterprise! And indeed ZarethPL can put ships in the game with proper collision detection and no reverse lighting bug.
He's already fixed up your previous ships. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Nice model, Kazeite! Nice to see you pop back in here good sir!

She does look sweet.

I have got an old book named "Prebble's Boys". It follows the careers of a number officers who served under Commodore Prebble's command/tutelage during the early days of the USS Constitution and the first Barbary Pirate campaign. The Enterprise is listed a couple times in the book. Initially she was rigged as a schooner and was reported to be a fine sailor. Near the beginning of the War of 1812 she was re-rigged as a Brig. From the references in the book it sounds like she sailed much better as schooner than a brig. I believe it was while she was brig-rigged that she fought and captured the HMS Boxer. I think at one point she was re-rigged as a schooner or Brigantine.

Look forward to seeing her in the game.

Greg.

Ah! Another great vessel! Huzzah!

Well mates, I've built a 14 gun topsail schooner... ironically, its USS <i>Enterprise</i>! I used a copy of her original draft provided in Chapelle's <u>The History of The American Sailing Navy</u>.

I've a couple of minor details to patch up, such as adding swivels and re-scaling the shroud's deadeyes... they're far too high for anyone to get out on the channel and start up the ratlines. Other than that, she's pretty much finished.
The biggest roadblock that I think we've yet to get past is that I built the <i>Enterprise</i> in 3ds max. Anyone have a filetype converter or know how I can get it in a format that both programs can read? Would .obj work?
I made the entire vessel from scratch, so if anyone wants to take this model, refine it, switch things like cannons, anchors, capstans, etc to those used by most of the ingame models, then let me know.
I'll take some screens and start a topic soon. Hopefully I'll get an animation to upload to YouTube to show her rendered out and fighting an enemy schooner.
Cheers mates!

Exporting to OBJ with 3DS MAX should allow you to import it in Ines Diaz' TOOL and export to GM.
However, this does not generate the correct collision detection and gives the reverse lighting bug.
To fix this, the model must be exported using the Maya GM export plugin.
Send a PM to ZarethPL; he's our main authority on putting ships into the game properly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

That model looks so much better with shadows. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> Me wanty to sail with shadowed ships! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" /> I hope CoAS has those ships with shadows.

Incredible; thanks very much! Now here's to hoping ZarethPL can have a look at her to put her ingame... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

i'l drink to that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" />

<b>Marbatico</b>, right now, it's just a raw hull, which needs to be imported into Maya and properly exported to format PotC engine can understand. So, I'm pretty sure the guys will let you know when it's ready.

Oh, I almost forgot: <b>Zareth</b>, if you still have <i>Interceptor</i> Maya file you used to properly export her, then you can use it to export this ship. You'll only need to delete old hull/deck/path, import new ones, connect them to hierarchy, move some locators, add some new cannon locators, and that's it. Shouldn't take more than half an hour <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks very much, ZarethPL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
For now I'm having a "Your download has failed. There were no available download servers." problem with her, but I should manage to get it at <i>some</i> point, right?
What's wrong with the FTP?

@ZarethPL:
If you´re having troubles with passwords and IDs on our FTP, just download ftp_commander again. Pieter pre-charged it with newest passwords and all. You can always upload to your folder at POTC Files, the Build FTP requires a password.

ZarethPL uploaded files to the FTP last week and nothing should have changed since then.
I just uploaded a small file to his folder and removed it again and that worked just fine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Anyway, got the Enterprise from FileFront now! Thanks again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

seems my firewall was playin tricks on me ,dislabed i an can connect <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

She looks beautiful! I never really noticed before, but good job on the stern window texturing!
They actually give the impression of being transparent without actually being transparent.
And the wider stern looks good on her. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Hi folks,

I have the ship yesterday in Coas imported.
This ship is very small! Is it really only as big as a Lugger is?
Sorry for my English.
