"Sid Meier's Pirates!" on Xbox Live

I haven't seen it on the news so:

Yep, you can now download and play "Sid Meier's Pirates!" on your Xbox 360 by downloading it via Xbox Live (1200 points). It's part of the Xbox Classic's range.

I saw the fleet once, but was tapped out for ship space and spare crew - I had to let the Spaniards get away <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" /> It was somewheres around the upper right corner of the map, quite a ways into my game.

Its annoying. Every time I'm given a tip to where they are I can never find it.

it's easier in tortuga, pirates of the new world. i chased that blasted fleet halfway round the archipelago once! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> i started at maracaibo but only caught it until it was going to the florida keys from corpus christi. i lost them from my sights three times along the voyage. it was some amazing amounts of good and bad luck at the same time.

I haven't played that one yet. I thought though that in Pirates it was a program error that the patch would fix about finding the treasure fleet. However if others have found it then I guess its there. I've yet to find it though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

well, i wouldn't recommend that game. it's too repetetive. fun if you play it 20 minutes at a time, but that's it. i really need to look for Pirates! sometime soon though.

Funny, I went to reinstall it last night (I had bought the game when it first came out) and I couldn't because I lost the cd key that you have to punch in. <img src="http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x172/oldsalt_bucket/emoticons/thangry-30.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /> So I looked around on the internet and downloaded it off of this <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/320/product/Buy-Sid-Meier%5C's-Pirates!-Download" target="_blank">site.</a> and that includes the updated patch 1.0.2. for $20. (Check out the little trailer for it, that will get ya interested in it again, though remember to turn on the sound <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> ) Only took about 15 minutes to download and they should send me a cd with the game on it in a few days. The site says you can only buy it if your in the US, UK, Canada or Mexico but I'm sure Morgan that you can find this game anywhere online. Amazon, eBay, lots of places. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> I also remember that there was a download for more music for the game off of Firaxis's website. I'll have to check that out.
I put it on Swashbuckler and got blasted out of the water so I went down to Adventurer and will start it there. Apprentice is way to easy as I remember so I didn't bother with that level. Winning swordfights is tougher on those levels and I keep winding up thrown in jail and then being caught trying to sneak out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> But I haven't played the game in a while so I gotta get me sea legs back. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> I think there are more quests with the patch also then in the stock game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

There's also some new character skins as well, although I've only seen one or two of them so far.

@Morgan: I'd noticed over here that two different boxed versions of Pirates! were released: the original, with a front flap on the box, and a slimmer box which (I'm guessing) only has the 2 CD's in it. The slimmer box is very light, so I'm guessing it doesn't have a paper manual (!) either.

I finally found the treasure fleet last night - I was told it was traveling to Havana, where I just happened to be. Low and behold, I left port and ran smack into 7 treasure ships! And this happened twice! I've got well over 1 million gold now! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

You know, I think the bug for the Treasure Fleet was fixed with that version I downloaded beacause I also ran into a bunch of treasure ships in the area where the fleet was supposed to be, though I didn't get that much gold. <img src="http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x172/oldsalt_bucket/emoticons/thangry-30.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I found the fleet again today three times in a row, but only got 9,000 gold total <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I keep attacking one port after the other, so now I'm at around 1.5 million gold <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Now I'm hunting for one of the Lost Cities North of Vera Cruz - I'm beginning to think it's an invisible city, too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> I land near the marker, but the landmarks don't seem to be in the right places <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

So I guess that was the treasure fleet I stumbled across. I guess it depends how much gold it has at any given time.

Yes, finding those cities can be a pain sometimes, but have patience and you will persevere. Make sure you are at the right landmarks, sometimes they can be off just a bit. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

If you catch them at the right time you can watch what they do.

1 - 4 ships moseying across the Caribbean

And no matter where you attack them they always have only chicken feed onboard

that's why I refer to the Treasure fleet as:

"The Chicken Merchants from Seville"

I concur, the few times I hit them the haul was pathetic. Me thinks the treasure be escapin' in unmarked ships while we waste our time going after these tubs.
