I see, according to the main page in an article posted by William, that Pirates! is coming to the Mac on August 29th. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p2" border="0" alt="pirate3.gif" />
Its about time, I thought it never would. I'll love to see how the game plays as the graphics usually are cleaner and crisper on a Mac then a PC. And will some of the bugs (like the treasure fleet never being in the spot where the barmaid says it is) finally be fixed?

You know, I never really had that problem with the last patch. What I did have a problem with was always being stuck on the wrong side of the wind when trying to to get to the Treasure Fleet ... Freakin' A!

One of the coolest things I enjoyed with the latest edition of SMP was how they allowed you to totally disrupt a town's economy, not just by raiding it, but by attacking the ships trying to get to the port. You could devastate a town in no time and make it ripe for the picking.

I was able to take over more than 3/4 of the Spanish towns and make them English colonies ... Which by that time, you may as well pay for the Spanish Letter of Marque and repeat the process against the English towns, because by then it gets boring ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

That's the one big drawback to that game, and one that has always been a problem in any version of it. In that sense its not open ended in its game play. And I also wish that there was more treasure to discover and relatives to save and that the ten most dreaded pirates kept on accumulating treasure while the game progresses. Lots of little changes like that but that would probably require mountains more of code to write. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The ten most dreaded pirates do keep accumulating wealth if you leave them alone <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> . Anyone ever tried playing through the game using only a sloop? That ought to make for some interesting battles <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .

Yes, they do, worded that wrong. I meant I wish they kept on sinking ships and raiding towns. Those numbers stay static. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Never noticed that before <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> . It's a real pity the game doesn't have more replayability to it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> . I do find myself playing it at least once a week, though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .

Unfortunately for me the replayability is an issue and I only come back to it every four or five months. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
