<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, mates.

These might not be to everyones tastes but I thought I'd post a couple of screenies and see if anyone is interested.

[attachmentid=667] (Hmmm...can't get into Photobucket at the moment <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> )

Basically, for some time now I've wanted to change the stock textures for ships guns and carriages which to me have a very unimpressive appearance. I've been playing around with the deck.tga textures and come up with something that I'm using in my current game. It looks fine on most ships, however, on some larger sized gun models the gun texture is slightly off allignment. Gun/carriage model positioning on deck can also result in some cases of carriage wheels appearing to be sunk into the deck a little. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

These textures have been created using stock POTC textures, plus some of the other gun texture improvements to be found on certain ships such as Xebec 3 and Petros' Merchantman and Ketch. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

This could be called Version 1 at the moment. There may be further versions/improvements, time permitting. I don't seem to have that much time for playing/modding lately. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Looks nice. I do find the painted on wheels to be looking a bit odd, but I think it's the best you can do without actually modeling wheels on there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Where can i find petros his ketch?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Petros is holding off adding new stuff to the Build until all the bugs are fixed and hasn't released the Ketch yet. It will be in the finished Build 13 release. I gave it a bit of a trial run a while back.

Yeah, modeling wheels for all ships gun carriages would be a huge job and could also open up a potentially dangerous can of worms re game performance. This was just an attempt to get away from the generic "crate" look of most ships gun carriages (hard to visualise them in action <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> ). I'll experiment with the textures some more when I've got sufficient time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Cheers, mates <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

P.S. The alternative could be something similar, something that looks more like a carriage than a crate, without the wheels. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

I don't think they look odd.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, Petros.

Yeah, this is what actually got me started. I liked the gun barrel texture and wanted to use that on all my ships... maybe a little darker. Then I thought maybe the wheels could be improved and I could use the whole carriage texture. This lead to redoing the whole carriage.

Cheers, matey <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
