Ships and Guns

Sloopy

Landlubber
Ships and Guns is one of the things they have updated. So no more disappearing guns on captured ships.

In the C64 version playing on Adventurer level you would come across 64 Gun Pirate War Galleon's, I still remember thinking I have to capture that ship she would be excellent for attacking Santiago. after spending half an hour carefully weakening the ship to a point where I could board and capture her. Took her to Port Royal to fix her up and then left for Santiago. Much to my distress when I hopped onboard I only had 32 guns. I guess this was a hard coded limit in the C64 version.

The Sloop was my favourite ship although a little under gunned, Has anyone got the full statistics for the new "Sloop of War" I am itching to get my hands on one.

SHIP Guns Crew Max Speed
Man'O'War ????
Royal Galleon
Frigate
Treasure Galleon
Trade Galleon

Can't give you specifics on the Sloop of War but I can tell you it's my favorite ship though lots of people love the frigate

I think you missed the Frigate and a new ship called Royal Sloop. As far as the sreenshots tell us, her maximun cannons/people is at least 19 and 125 respectively. Anyway, the ship improvements you can make in this new version allow you to augment your ship´s people capacity, so I think anyone will be able to fight with his/her favourite ship without being outclassed by other ships.

Indeed, there is no frigate in the list, though I stongly hope it´ll be in the game. I always like it in Pirates! in the second half of my careers when concentrating on the big hits.

Well, it's part NDA, and part bad memory on my part. A Sloop of War, fully modified, is indeed a lovely thing <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

There is also a Royal Galleon.

The frigate is good, but the Sloop of War to me is the and all be all pirate vessel. KaBoOm! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

I generally end up on whatever is the best equipped (that I've captured). The Sloop of War is really NIIIIIIICE!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Have updated the list with Royal Galleon, Royal Sloop, Pirate Sloop, and added a Man'O'War I have no idea if it is going to make an appearance in the game at all.

Has any one seen or got a screen shot of a fully kitted out Sloop'O'War? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

I liked the Sloop of War, but then I got my hands on a Frigate.

Peh, forget the Sloop now! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Do the ships appear in historical order (are there different historical periods at all?) as in the old game or can you get a frigate, sloop or fluyt even in 1560 (fluyts were invented by 1600, sloops and frigates in the 1630s)?

As far as I know, the 1560 and 1600 eras aren´t available any more. I understand the 1600 one, as nothing happened during that time, and there were no important non spanish towns, but the 1560 era, although difficult, was very interesting (mainly because of the huge profits¡).
