ship surrenders but i still fight thier crew... bug?

blackrabbit

Sailor Apprentice
I've run into this a few times and not sure if its a bug or has to do with my rep with that nation. A ship will strike its colors and i get the boarding icon, I board ready to take thier good and coffer but instead i have to fight their crew. On a normal boarding my officers come with so its not a big deal but after a ship surrenders and i have to fight none of my officers are with me so it make taking the ship 100 times more difficult. Has anyone else seen this?

Confirmed. I've had quite a few times when I'd board a surrendered ship, but the crew would fight. We definitely have a bug here.

the captain surrenders but the crew dosent, every time you get attacked on a surrendered ship, you are told that the captain is dead because the crew probably killed him so it might not be a bug but i might be wrong...

Hmm! I am still not sure if this works as intended... but your explanation indeed ties it all up :)

I believe that is how they made it. Ships will strike at sea, but the chance of actual surrender when boarding is a different calculation. However, I have reached a captain who wishes mercy after boarding a surrendered ship and fought the crew... so, captain wasn't dead.

And since so many messages always pour across the top of the screen, I don't even bother reading them anymore <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Yeah same for me after killing the crews i find the captain is dead. I like the idea of them killing the captain lol

I sure hope Hook finishes the new boarding crew numbers code <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I'm tired of a captain surrendering on top deck, and I'm left with only 1/8th the crew I started with...

It's getting close. I'm reasonably happy with the numbers generated when I board an enemy ship. Tonight I've been working on making the numbers work for attacking a fort.

The reason the boarding only lasts one deck, and the enemy captain is always dead, is due to a nasty bug where the global Locations variable was having the nextdeck attribute set to "". This would happen if, for example, you lost all your boarding crew on any one deck. From that point on, you'd never get the next deck, and the game thought you'd gone through a fight in the boarding cabin and the captain had been killed.

Hang in there, we're getting close.
