Is there any way to mod a saved game in sea dogs? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Yeah. Load it, alt-tab, and edit the files.
Should work for some things, or it did for me (this was, hmm, 3? 4? years ago)

No go!! It blanks and goes to desk top. How about the cheat codes, how do you use those? I know you have to be at sea, but were at sea? In the map or action screen? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Sorry I did not know Sea Dogs would be concidered "other" pirate game. My fault.

But does any one remember how to use the cheat mod in Sea Dogs?

Hmm. I don't think you can replace files wholesale--but certainly you can replace data files, i.e. add a ship, then add it to a shipyard. I did that when I made a 74.
Have no idea about the cheats...

Thanks anyway, I just wish POTC worked on my laptop. My graphics card must not be supported. All the other requirements are meet for the game to work. And they said Compaq was the best on the market. Don't trust those merchant sailing under the flag of Spain.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Hmm.
You can try, if you're feeling adventurous, downloading the latest SIS videocard drivers for you videocard (it is SIS, right?). Also, try futzing around in display properties->advanced->whatever pages SIS gives you.

Yes and I just down loaded the latest drivers dated 2005/4/15, so wish me luck....

All hail to the great graphics god <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> to all we place our games in. May you grant me the joy of POTC on my Compaq. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

And for those who are looking I found this:

The cheats are a little fussy to get to work. There's no popup menu, and no bell or indication that you've done it right, except that they will either work or they will not.
Try it a couple of times, and it will usually cooperate:

1. Be sure you are at sea.

2. Press the PAUSE key to pause the game (not the letter P -- the manual is wrong).

3. Press the CAPSLOCK.

4. Press CTRL + Z (hold CTRL down while pressing Z), and hold both keys down for about three seconds.

5. Type ONE of the following cheat codes:

HAVE LIVE - for ship reparied & full crew
EXPU MNE - for extra experience
DENEG DAY - extra money
GET ME MAGIC - extra cannon damage
NOW I FLYING - after activating, CTRL-F will allow you to move the camera view with the mouse
FIRE FROM CAMERA - after activating, "0" on Numpad will fire from camera view
TELEPORT - after activating, CTRL-L will teleport the ship to the camera's location

6. If you want to activate more than one cheat, press CTRL-Z before typing each one.

Sorry the gods do not favor me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> Still no POTC, it will load to the loading game screen and go no further.

Has anyone else had this problem? I am running DX 9.1 and Compaq says my SIS card will run DX 9.1. I am running and playing FS 2004, and Ghost Recon all with no problems. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

What graphics card does that laptop carry? low-end Compaqs tend to have those basic Inter cards and you may have to go for the higher end machines to get a decent ATI Radeon... Depends on the model really...

When I first bought PotC and tried to run it after installing, it just showed me the skull screen and didn't even continue to the blue loading screen before crashing. Using a different user, the game <i>would</i> start. After I reinstalled the computer, I have had no problems since. Maybe this can help you... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
