I'm still as per usualy, you might be having a bad internets day <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Getting this regularly when on the RPG:

Is there anything that sets it off, i just had a play and it works.

Seems to be back up to speed now.

No worries now <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

Yesterday evening, the forum was being pretty slow and even stopped working at some point.
Today I'm having the "Internet Explorer can't load main page" problem again, though the forum is working. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

The front page works fine for me in IE Pieter, try clearing your browser cache and try again.

Found the problem, it as the embedding of youtube.

Don't know the fix for it so I have just taken it off the front page for now.

Interesting. It's working on my work-computer now. I'll check my personal one when I get back home.

Pieter, in IE 7, on the top right side of the browser window, choose Tools, Internet options. On the General tab, under Browsing History, choose Delete. Unfortunately, it will also clear any passwords you have saved and any web site cookies. Not sure if that will solve your problem or not, but IE could be using some of the old code for the front page that it stored on your hard drive before Keith fixed it.

Not likely, because it was working a couple of days earlier, just after the server move. But I'll give it a try when I get back home. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Very slow again today since mid-morning EDST

From the southeast (USA) Florida backbone connect, but not necessasarily unique.

The ping from both <a href="http://piratesahoy.net" target="_blank">http://piratesahoy.net</a> and <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net</a> is negligible.

But the web page loading time is delayed??? Appears to be ALL graphic links, not just youtube.

Prolly not a direct connect problem, but a link connect problem. Could be a cache clearing prob!!

I've had pages take a very long time to load on my satellite connection. It's normally faster over dialup. Satellite seems to be handshaking for every graphic on the page which takes a long time and normally isn't seen outside secure connections. Not to mention this cuts deep into my download allowance.

Hook, you mean it's not using cache?

I don't know, Keith. The satellite connection has a 1300 ms latency. If it has to handshake too often, such as everything on a secure page, it takes forever for a page to load. Outlook express can check 3 accounts in 4 seconds over dialup, but it takes 40 seconds over satellite. This forum is similar, but not quite that bad.

I think the ISP is doing some kind of caching so stuff doesn't have to be fetched every time. Secure pages aren't cached there, and it appears this forum isn't either.

When I first got satellite this forum could cause the modem to lock up. I don't remember any other site doing that. If I tried to open several pages at once, it would load a few then stop and I'd have to unplug the modem to reset it. I told the ISP that it appeared the modem was doing retransmit requests for timeouts, which added to the retransmit requests from the computer and ended up totally filling the queues which caused a lockup. A couple weeks later the problem went away, without comment from the ISP. You're welcome, WildBlue.

BTW, I used the plain blue color theme, as simple as I can get it.
