hi All <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

I have build 12 (so what you may ask ARR ARR ARR)

Ok, now - there I was, killing some bad ass pirates and i was slain!! (perish de' tort) so, what happens?! Well this fair maiden regenerates me and puts me in this tavern room.

How do i change that? I just want to load a saved game if i die. I don't want to "survive" by the grace of all that is holly!

Thanks in advance <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

The best place to look is in the BuildSettings.h file for anything that you want to change in the Build.

I can't remember which line it is but it should be fairly obvious and have some notes on what to change to stop this.

Shearder: there is a line is BS.h where you can edit your chances of dying, yes. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Right, buildsettings it is! Set this one

// SURVIVAL MOD
//Lets you survive sometimes after lost fights. But you will be down and out, so it is a new challenge and no cheat!
#define DEATHRATE 20 //Chance of surviving shipwrecks and lost duels. Choose a value between 1(certain survival) and 130(certain death).

to

#define DEATHRATE 130

Though you could also just commit suicide in the tavern and reload a saved game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

HAHAHA

yeah i guess that's about what i have been doin'

Thanks again for the help. I will make the necessary changes when i get home.

Personally, I love the surviving mod and put it to 100% survival. After all, when I die, what else can I do but loading an old saveggame or start a new game. But survival lets me go on where I was, albeit in a pretty bad shape. Makes for a very nice challenge. It helps, though, to place a reserve weapon into the cabin chest <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

And if I don´t want to be reduced, I can still reload.

yeah i guess, but hell, when you have got so far in a quest and you die do you lose your progress when you survive or do you keep your progress when you survive?

You keep your progress, but your weapons are taken away from you, your ship is reduced to `near-nothing` and you have less money. But yeah, you keep your progress in the game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Precisely. I loved the old Lucas Arts games (Monkey Island being one of them) where you almos never died. You were punished somehow if you did something stupid, lost your stuff or were transported to a different location, but you didn't die. CCC's survivor mod works the same way, and its among the things that for me make the modded version much better than the original. The conversation you have to have with the girl in the tavern when you wake up is just the right amount annoying ..

I LOVED Monkey Island!

Well i just started with this game and already i think i am spending less quality time with my wife!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

so i guess i better do this in moderation. But hell... if you leave it for a few days then you actually lose memory points and have to, in the first 10 minutes, figure out what it was you were busy doing.

BTW, is there a log that you can open to view the dialogs you have with "people"?

Thanks.

Rather than a Captain´s Log we´d need more islands and towns. AND the promotion system overworked (for sacking Redmont, I got from "Letter of Marque" to "Vice Admiral" both with France and Spain). No problem with getting promotions from two nations for one deed, but it shpould be impossible to talk a couple of promotions out of the governor in a row. I´ve even got an idea how that is to work, conceptionally, it´s just i can´t write it in code.

I have to agree, the more islands and towns would be a HUGE boost. Even if it was just for side quests and privateering etc... and perhaps an island that you could "buy" etc and get all the profits from the store trading, grog sold etc and just pay the storekeepers, tavern keepers etc a salary like you do the sailors but the Island is your own.

Perhaps only deal in contraban...

ok perhaps i am getting ahead of myself...
