Real Logbook

Screwface

Hi,

It would be fun if we could have a real logbook in the game where we could add some things manually.
For exemple, when you go in the cabin or with the F2 Menu, it would have a button to add entry in your logbook and if you add an entry, the game will automaticaly add the date (like in savegame), the time (day or night), the weather and the place where you are (Open sea or near an island...) and let you add some comments with keyboard.
Perhaps, the game would add entry in the logbook when you attack and sink ships (name, class, nation, place,.....). With a logbook, we could keep a list of all ships we have attacked and sunk.

Excuse for my bad english. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Think it was Alexus that added a iterface menu that tracks ships ye sunk,it looked really cool, would be nice to have it for the English version as well <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Maybe it'll be in the Morgan Pack conversion. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I haven't noticed the feature, but then again I haven't looked over all the files I downloaded... and wasn't even able to download them all. Dodgy Russian servers...

Very nice idea though; I lose track of all the ships I've sunk/captured/mooned. I guess I'm not a very concientious pirate.

On a similar note, that of working with the keyboard, I wish I could change the name of my ship with the keys instead of pecking at the little `in-game` keyboard with my cursor. I never keep a ship's original name, but it takes so long to do it one letter at a time... And the characters don't include the really fun ones, like hyphens and exclamation points. I'd like to create more awkward conversations with the names of my ships.

"Hello, I am Quentin Basil Narborough [I never keep Hawk's name either], captain of the 'OH NO LOOK WHAT'S THAT BEHIND YOU!', and I'd like to repair my ship..."

If the screenshots for the Morgan Pack were correct then it would only show the number of each ship type or class that you have sunk for each nation, it won't show you the name or when you sunk it.

If you really want a logbook the easiest way would be have POTC runnign in windowed mode and try to have Wrod running and switch between the two and add your log manually. I don't think that it would be possible to have a logbook in game that would accept a keyboard input. If it is possible to put a logbook in game then it may be possible using the same input as you use when you change a ships name in game.

the logbook idea is entirely possible, but sirus_darke is right, a keyboard input would be difficult. however, it would be quite easy to add a logbook that automatically recorded ships you sank - you'd basically just have to copy the quest book interface <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />
