Ranking system

Hu Kwan Do

Landlubber
Ive played the build for a little while now, and what ranks do you get for the nations? Like for Spain: Cpt de Fragata and all that sort of thing.

I think there is a full list in one of the game's files. Sorry, I haven't played PotC for about 6 months, and my gaming computer broke down. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_twisted.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_twisted.gif" />

I know the feeling. Once, my virus checker clamed to have found a virus in the system folder, and deleted that folder (there werent any viruses there anyway, I checked a few minutes before it said that) It screwd up the entire machine, and well, a system wipe and re-install was necessary. Getting wiped of all my games was really annoying, but I did complete most of them again. Amasingly, after re-installing the system, PotC worked perfectly, and it never did before. (This was before the Build) and I did nothing different in installation, It still confuses me now, but hey, it works, so Im not complaining. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Thanks. That should help me to know the right time to marry a governors daughter and then sack the island. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Just a thought.....I have all the saved game files saved on a seperate partition. I play alot of games due the fact I help review computer hardware for a site(if you want the site hit me with a post) and have to wipe the OS at least once every 3 months if not more, driver issues and the such. After loosing my Balders gate saved file after a couple months work(back in the day) I started saving the actual files where the saved games are kept to a disk (or like now) I have the option to save to a seperate disk partition. The cabal of gamers a I belong too have showed me a bunch of tricks to save this type of info before blowing everything away. Oh yea....my specality is RPG, RTS, and simulation games.

P.S. Build 12.1 didn't go in the first time I tried to install. server failure during install. It puzzled me. I thought I had the full download, but it needed to contact an outside server. They should let us know about that because I have security protocols in place to prevent that very thing.

The full download file is available from <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/component/option,com_docman/task,doc_download/gid,24/Itemid,46/lang,/" target="_blank">here</a>. It shouldn't need to conect to any outside server after you downloaded the file there. It's just a WinZip selfextracting EXE file, so nothing weird should happen during installation. Be sure to check the installation path though. The default path isn't the right one. (My mistake <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> )

There is no difference. Each version is the same as the other. For several reasons people sometimes have trouble with the online installer, so it's better for them to get the Build all in one big download. What is it now, Pieter, something like 80MB+?

78,2 MB, yes. And with the next Build, it's bound to have passed the 100 MB. My modpack-for-testing is already 44MB. Add to that some new islands and you get a 150 MB modpack. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

Hey Pieter or Catalina which ever wants to handle this. Could you hit me with a link to the file Pieter was talking about.....I really like the work you people have done with the build. I would like to have the all contained file for easy installation....I do reinstalls on a regular basis and this would help perfectly to further that end. I hate lossing info. I'm a data base freak...lol. I could actully start my own site if I wanted too with all the updates and various files I have. This is what happens when you freak out for a game....I just do it a lot.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guns.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2guns" border="0" alt="guns.gif" />

Self-extracting WinZip EXE file. Please note: Default installation path is not correct. My mistake. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Thanks for the reply PB....I got it thanks....but some of the other files at the download center will not download. RobC_Alan and JMV downloads reload the screen instaed of starting the download. Bummer...they look interesting. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Azriel, HA, yes, same here with all the updates & stuff I have. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Let me tell you what I've started doing lately - for testing purposes and for modding - I make a clean B12 installation and save it somewhere, then rename my Program and Resources directories to something like "Resource - Pieter" so that I know that when I want to test Pieter's modpack, I should rename this directory to simply "Resource"...

MAINLY you do that with the Program directory...

But anyhow, you end up with a lot of different directories BUT you always have a clean installation to fall back upon, and when you're finished with whatever testing or modding you've been doing you can whisk those unneeded directories off somewhere else (NEVER DELETE, LOL!)...

Backups have saved me a lot of <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> And... There is a REASON this guy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> is called "modding"! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
