Question about the daughters

DjPiLL

Landlubber
Hey guys. First time poster. Long time Pirates! fan (from the original).

Anyways... is there any bad recourse from dancing with as many women as you want. It seems like they will give you info if you successfully dance.

I just finished up a game and I only danced with this one beautiful daughter... married... etc.

But now I feel that if I would have at least attempted to dance with the uglier ones... i would have gotten more info.

Also... anything wrong with continuing to dance and court women after you are married? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

This is a good game... I just wish it wasn't as buggy. It locks up on me constantly (on two different computers nonetheless... one an NVIDIA desktop... and the other an INTEL VIDEO notebook).

Court some, none or all, it does not matter. However I believe it has been pointed out that ony the BEAUTIFUL ones give you the 10/10 score you need. And you can only MARRY one. Even after you are married you can continue to court. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Keep getting items and info...

Sorry I cannot say anything about the lockups, I have had none. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

So can you do all the tasks leading up to marriage with every daughter? Like the diamond necklace... the fiance battle... the kidnapping? You just can't pop the question?

Yeah the lockups suck hard. Any other game would have been removed from my HD. But I am a Pirates Freak... so it stays. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If memory serves correctly, yes. When you have courted her to the point that normally you could ask her to mary you, she will simply say, nice to see you again when introduced. No more dancing and such after that. In my gaming experience..

no lockups here either.

If you have windows XP service pack 2 installed for some ungodly reason try setting CPY priority to above normal in taskmanager. This seems to help when background TSR's like msmgs.exe,svchost.exe, or symwsc.exe decide they want to suddenly take 95% of your processor time away from your running game of Pirates!. Any changes made in taskmanager (ctrl alt delete only ONCE to bring it up) are temporary, but you may find that trying to do anything outside the game is impossible while it is running, due ti the shifted CPU priorities.

Regarding the governor's daughters:

Dance wit all da wenches laddie....havin a wench in ev'ry port to give ye all manner o free goodies is some'tin ev'ry proper rogue such as yeself ought ta be doin. But ye best be careful they don' be findin' out bought each other or ye be walking outta town missin a few appendages!

Everytime it's gotten to the point where marriage is coming around, I get the "my daughter's been kidnapped" quest which always ends in her saying "thanks for saving me, now let's go see my dad and talk about our future together" or something like that.

Also, on the 10/10 romance, you can still marry a plain daughter and get it, you just have to get another level of romance from some other daughter.

That is prior to marriage. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> What I said above is in reference to after you are already married. From that point on, after you have romanced a girl to the point of marriage, all she will say is nice to see you again. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> The game will not let you marry twice. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Oh. Yeah. Hehe. Did they even allow bigomy back in that age? I thought they did and just figured Sid left it out so as not to corrupt children's minds with that sort of sinful stuff.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Okay. Wasn't sure. Not that it's a big deal. It's fun just knowing you've got little heart icons in every port on the world map.

Well, <i>official</i> bigamy wasn't ok at least. As for having lots of.... uhh... acquaintances of the female persuasion, I guess they handled that pretty much the same way as today. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<!--`QuoteBegin-nem`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nem)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Bigamy in the 17th century: certainly not ok with the four nations we see in Pirates!
Makes sense: The Spanish are all Catholics and the other colonies comprise of Puritans, Huguenots or the Dutch protestants, so, none of them is in for laizzes faire.

Yes, you can do same things with other women, including dueling with their fiances and rescuing them from kidnapper. But you can have only one wedding, that's all, which means you can only marry once. You can visit other ladies afterwards but I think only your wife will ask you to dance with her after kidnapper episode.

What real Pirate would want more than one wedding anyway, there be only one time in this pirates lifetime he be wearin' all that fancy clothing <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Although on the game side of things, would be funny if at the end an army of our your married women came to live with you <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> On second thoughts.. imagine the headaches <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

<!--`QuoteBegin-Duckbeard`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Duckbeard)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->On second thoughts.. imagine the headaches
Which would get worse with all the offspring. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Obviously to keep the game PC and not draw the ire of the protest groups they had to keep it within modern moral standards. Realistically though I think you could marry more than one. How would they know that you were already married? I don't think France would have access to England's court records for example. You should at least be able to marry a girl from each country. You could probably even get away with more than that. It's not like they have computers and the internet. Communications and record keeping were not all that reliable. There may be rumors of your other wives, but you could simply deny them as untrue allegations by people trying to tarnish your reputation. Just hope that one governor `father-in`-law doesn't write a letter to another governor `father-in`-law.

Just because they had no internet doesn't mean that news didn't get around. I think if the daughter of a capital town's governor got married to some Duke, this would definitely spread throughout the taverns and markets of at least the surrounding islands and settlements.

Maybe you would get away with it, yea, but it wouldn't be all too easy I think.

Maybe if you married only one really well known daughter and one or two more avarage ones in some backwater towns. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Ah, the answer is MISTRESSES... Or you have a "highborn" wife and a native commonlaw wife... That was most definitely "done" then...

With mistresses, you should have to "sneak around" to keep the news from getting out...

Or you could carry around several fake IDs. Then you could definatley get away with it. Not that I know anything about bigamy. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

IDs? Would've loved to see that. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

"Welcome back to Port Royal Mr Morgan, may I see your captain's license please? You sailed into harbour a wee bit fast back there I reck*ARGH*" <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
