I am glad other ppl would like to see owenership of land and other properties, but the problem is this could distract from the main part of the game wich is pirating.

Having said that though whats the point in getting acres of land if its not making money, that is what land is used for. Sugar, Spice, Tobacco plantations. Town expantions.

Would like to be able to change a settlement into a larger port.

Back to the pirating, would any1 else prefer to be able to shoot the pistols during the fights rather than a `pre-fight` cut scene, It could be a one off use that is like a thrust except 2x as powerful, and it can be jumped or ducked.

One thing that i was curious about was that u start with 3 sword types, wouldnt it make more sense to start with one and have to collect the others?

Maybe it should be linked to the choice of skill.

Fencing - gets u the 3 swords
Medicene - get the baisc plant/herb
Navigation - Starting ship has cotton sails
Gunnery - extra cannon on starting ship or one of the cannon upgrdes
Wit, Charm - dancing shoes

As well as `Robo-Cyber` Dolphins, Ninja attack Penguins and a nice selection of Cheese at various ports of call, how about a turn based Zebra hunting game?

Imagine the thrill of hunting a herd of stampeding wild Zebra on San Juan for example? If Zebra's are not feasible then what about escaped skateboarding Serengeti Wilderbeasts?

Wow, must not have many musically inclined people in these forums. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> One more reason band people r0x0rz!!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Go band!!!!!!!!!! w00000t!

Dancing is pretty simple once you figure out when to hit the buttons. Then it becomes pretty simple to just copy the patterns.

Just practice, you'll get it eventually. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hengist, I think they get what you are saying and guys I will say it again, game is fine the way it is, there is a game which does what you ask and that is "cutthroats terror of the high seas" go buy that, but as an original owner of the orginal pirates not pirates gold but PIRATES, the game released is fine and replicates the orginal just perfect, stop with the "lets add this" it is starting to sound silly. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Gotcha Numpty, but what about the `Robo-Cyber` Dolphins?

Seriously, I guess you've guessed that we're both thinking along the samelines, but my way of saying it was slightly funnier (I hope) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I agree the game is fine as is, but the features I mentioned would be a nice addition for an expansion pack. There's nothing wrong with expanding on a great thing to make it greater. Nothing at all. And, I'm sorry to say, but I absolutely hated Cutthroats. The game didn't hold my attention for more than a couple of hours at most. I had hopes for that game too. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Just one thing - all these gameplay options you guys are suggesting would turn this game into an RPG - yeah, it says live the life of a Pirate, but this isn't supposed to be an RPG - it's supposed to be an adventure game.

How would expanding trade abilities and being able to upgrade settlements or towns make it an RPG? Besides, if you want to get technical, it IS an RPG already, just without character creation or specific stats. Therefore it's not a true RPG in the sense of the genre. Adding the stuff I've suggested would not make it anymore like an RPG than it already is simply because you'd still be lacking character creation or specific stats.

You do create your character on a base level by choosing a skill and naming him. Also, you are running around playing the role of a pirate. There are NPCs to talk to, merchants to trade with, upgrades to buy for your ships, random encounters, "boss" fights.

But, again, I agree that the game is truly splendid as is and won't be the least bit heartbroken if I never see any of my suggestions come to light. I just think it would be super cool to see them added because it would give the title alot more depth and alot more longevity to some of the more esoteric crowd out there who are probably already bored with the game.

There is limited character creation I guess, i.e. When you choose the skill for your Pirate character at the start of the game.

you serious?

I absolutely hated Cutthroats <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

Dude it was excellent had a huge following, I know I was included in it, the forums were packed daily for months, how could you not get into it.?

Anyway Pirates and Cutthroats are two very different games and I enjoy both.

Cheers

Don't know. Just couldn't get into Cutthroats at the time. Matter of fact, I seem to recall that being a time in my life when I couldn't get into much of anything really. I'll give it another go sometime. Still have it in my library. I rarely get rid of games if I can avoid it.
