I just now fixed that. The news was only to show for the one project... wasnt showing for "ALL" projects (which is what is default for new visitors). Sorry about that.

I also posted the direct download link to the patch file itself in the thread post. That should help too, but remember, you still need to have installed up to August 21st for this patch to work.
 
Jack, you might want to turn off your download manager. Seems like GetRight is having problems with the file. It's small enough that you won't need a manager.

Man, a lot of things have been fixed in this version. I've finally been able to just *play* the game instead of testing things. It's a lot of fun.

One interesting change is to see traders leveling up. With higher quality they have more and better stuff. Previously you'd have to buy or sell something, then exit the trade screen 450 times to raise a trader from quality 1 to qualilty 10. It's a a little faster now, but will still take a while. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'll still be tweaking the boarding code, so if you see something that doesn't seem quite right, let me know. It's not exactly where I wanted it for release, but it's ready for people to beat on a bit to see how it works for them.

I hope no one else had the problems Jack did downloading the fix. We don't know what the problem with the GetRight download manager was, but it was adding stuff to the end of the filename. If you have problems with GetRight, try shutting it off. For that matter, uninstall the thing and get Free Download Manager (available on Pieter's page under tools) which seems to work a lot better. I've used both, and I prefer FDM. Also, GetRight is spyware, and FDM is just another program like any other, like they're *supposed* to be.

Link loads for me. All the links in the post do. Could you let me know what web browser you are using? If you want, you can Private Message me your first "set" of IP digits so I can search the logs to see what sort of error it was giving you.

A lot of downloads so far, so I don't think the server is failing... it may be like Jack was having problems with ... spyware prevention is on high level on my servers, so it gave him grief.

Let me know Sam... I don't want you to NOT be able to get the file!

EDIT:
I checked the logs, and no one has had a failed attempt since Jack yesterday night. This leads me to believe you are unable to REACH the server to begin with. Which would lead to not being able to download.

I have no control over the internet (much to my dismay!) so when an ISP isn't resolving the address for a particular server, then there is not much I can do about that.

What I can do for YOU, is email you the Update. Just PM me a location to email it too, and I will. I have no other servers outside the same domain set that would resolve for you, if your ISP isn't resolving the swankyplace server. Sorry.

Yeah Jack, craziest thing I've ever seen really. And I've seen a lot of logs on my server! I just did a back search through event logs for the past year. Your attempt was the only one of its like!

This is the specific error:
"Can't open /potc/BM13_beta5_update_28_8_2006.zip-getrightdownload: No such file or directory"

Somehow, your program, browser, whichever you are using is ~adding~ the "-getrightdownload" to the end of the GET request... which of course that filename does not exist, WOW!

Anyhow, I emailed it to you. Sorry for all those troubles! I know my server is prolly a first for you to have problems with. Which is equally baffling, as it is a host server to thousands of file downloads, multiple websites, and emails too! This is the sort of thing that makes us server maintainers go ***uuuggghhhhhh***

Anyhow. I wanted to download the August 21 b4 fix, but I cant. Something is wrong with the link. Every other link worked on the page, but that one didn't. The connection hangs up at around 3 - 12% of the download. Could someone PLEASE e-mail me the download? I will make a new modpack update including these fixes available in a couple of days. Sorry for not being more active the past days. I had a friend from England staying here. He is gone now, so I should have some time again. Please try downloading it from <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/pietersmods/pre_b13_upd_21-8-06.zip" target="_blank">here</a>. Also install the <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/pietersmods/small_bugfix.zip" target="_blank">Small Bugfix</a> afterwards to make sure the game runs. I don't know if that fix is in IncredibleHat's fixpack. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
BTW: Is my site still not working? If not, I will make a mirror of my site. It seems that the pieter.piratesahoy.org server isn't entirely reliable.
