POTC Modding Team

I meant there's three new islands in Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 (both versions) that just have a worldmap model and no 3D model or land locations associated with them.
If possible, it would be most welcome if you could do your work on a Build 14 Alpha, preferrably one of the Alpha 8 WIP 2 versions. They're reasonably stablish, though do contain some bad bugs. But we'll have those fixed eventually. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

As for the cheats: Yes, that's some of the ones we've got. But we've got a couple more, such as Fake Level Up and Cycle Through Reputations. Anyway, there's dozens of cheats one could make, but I think the ones we've got now are pretty much the most important ones people might use. Also most useful for quickly testing some stuff without dying inbetween. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Right thanks! Is the Pirate battle rocks meant to be one of those islands without a thing?

Not really. There's three new islands: Aruba, Curacao and Eleuthera in the Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 versions.

They're posted right on the POTC Build forum AND I added them to the Download Links thread as well yesterday. You should be able to find them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

So for new mod work, we should be using Build Mod 14 Alpha 8? And if so, is there a special order for install, or does it just go Build 13 -> Build 14 Alpha 8?

Thanks!

Cap'n Drow

There is a special order for now. See <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=11854" target="_blank">here</a>.

Ahoy all!

I recently got CoAS, and I will be around should I be needed, albeit by the looks of it I really doubt it, so many great things you have all made during the years. :)

Cheers!

Welcome back! It's always great to see old-time modders return!
I think you weren't even here anymore when I joined the forum.

I hope you'll be able to have a look at what we've done since then.
We're quite proud of we've done and it is my personal biggest wish that
our old-time modders get to see where we've taken their original work.

If you want to help us out with anything, that would definitly be welcome!
We can use all the help we can get; that's for sure... :cheeky

Thank you for the Welcome Pieter :)

Actually my last posts here was on November 05, in this thread http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=5515&st=20 in which you replied as well. So it has been about 4 years (where does the time go!).

I can help if need be with Graphics, 3D models and Exporting stuff from Maya..if that is still an issue. As you know, I did original modding on Sea Dogs and then POTC, released the Tools Akella sent me to the community back then. And made a couple of tutorials which I think only survive in the old Wiki that Verruckt made for community.

First retexturing tutorial (just before Akella released the TX converter) - http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=RetexturingTutorial&v=5le
Tools Page - http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=ModdingTools&v=10ku
And Walk File Tutorial matching the POTCWalk Tool Scheffnow and I made for walk files - http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=UnderstandingAndMakingShipWalkFiles&v=6b6
Items Locators tutorial - http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=ItemsLocators&v=u3k

Much other Original Work from many old Modders can be found here: http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=PageIndex&v=17pe

I do suggest, if not done already, to plunder this info as is required, because that Wiki and Domain is about to Expire.

---

That being said, all of the above is part of History, and I have been out of the loop since then completely. Enjoying playing of MMORPG's with my Guild. So I do have much to catch up, and I am sure there is many talented modders here already from everything that has been created during the years! And yes, you have much to be proud of!

I am looking forward to a new beginning with AOP2.

I am surprised to see that we do not have Pluggins for more recent versions of Maya thought (it is up to version 10 presently)...

Say has anyone made/exported any brand new Characters? (I was working on that aspect before I left).

Cheers! :cheers

Thank you for the Welcome Pieter :)
Ah! So I did get to meet you on here before. I didn't quite remember anymore. :cheeky

Modeling help is always welcome. :yes
Some people now know how to do things with Maya, but it's still confusing for many others. :?

That's good to know. I reckon we should post it all on our own new wiki then: http://wiki.piratesahoy.net
The old information still holds a lot of value, especially if it's updated for the latest versions.

I reckon our Davy Jones might be considered a fully new character model, even though I believe it's based on the model from At World's End. We've had several people who did character modifying, most notably High Sea Lass, Sir Christopher Mings and Damski62. Damkski62 is still active every now and then, but I haven't heard in a long time from the other two.

Some of it is still fresh in my mind maybe it will help you remember. I was one of the original founders of the PMT (POTC Modding Team), that albeit worked to make a Conversion project also contributed to the Build by releasing version 11 here :

http://robotsdontbleed.com/scheffnow/

But you are quite right, much time has passed, and modders come and go with time it has always been like that. Yet that also makes it to keep records of people's contributions always. It serves not only to inform new players that become modders but also invites older modders to come back.

Yes feel free to take what you need, actually since it is a Wiki, I may even add some there myself, it does not seem to have many tutorials.

I am still catching up, there has been many developments with the series of games, I honestly haven't touched any of it since POTC...I was in a long beta for Pirates of the Burning Sea MMORPG and some others after that.

So I did miss all of the games from POTC to AOP2, and I just got AOP2, what attracted me to it is the fact that people call it the spiritual successor to Sea Dogs (which as you know was the first game the old Modders Modded, and Compiled in Hosehead's Installer).

I have much to catch up, and looking forward to some fun with all of you! :)

That was all pretty much before my time. The first Build I played was Build 11 (10 wouldn't work on Euro versions) and then I joined just before the release of Build 12, if I recall.

But you are quite right, much time has passed, and modders come and go with time it has always been like that. Yet that also makes it to keep records of people's contributions always. It serves not only to inform new players that become modders but also invites older modders to come back.
We try to credit everyone we can. I hope we've added all the old-time modders to our "Modders" usergroup.
If you can please have a look at our RESOURCE\VIDEOS\common\ENGLISH\Credits.wmv file and check if you've got anything to add.
I'm not at all sure what happened before Build 13 was being made.

In any case, that credits movie is outdated again now anyway. A lot more people have contributed to Build 14 now,
and a lot of the people already credited have done more things now. So we'll need to update it some time anyway.

You'd definitly be welcome to post things on our Wiki. We've only recently gotten it and haven't made much use of it yet.

I have spent about 10 minutes playing AoP until I got stuck upon my first boarding.
And I have yet to find AoP2:CoAS available somewhere. So I'm still totally a PotC-guy. :cheeky
Eventually I'm hoping to find CoAS somewhere; from what I hear, it is a pretty good game
and it would be worthwhile porting the Build mod to it. After Build 14 is done though.

I have much to catch up, and looking forward to some fun with all of you! :)
Seconded! :doff

Pieter, I understand you, and I have nothing against you or anyone else.

It Does not need to become an issue nor does it need to be perceived as an attempt to rewrite history and since, many are permanent members of this "Akella games Community" and no one forgets.

So please look at the first page of this thread and also the names at the list of that link and complete what is missing if you really want to be fair to all.

Again I am not saying that anything was done intentionally here, mistakes are human and we are all but human, it is just a question of etiquette :)

When we made the credit-list, we used all available information we could find.
But I just don't have much of a clue of what happened before the release of Build 12,
so I can't actually credit those people with what they actually did.
So we just listed those people as "Build 11 Team" and "Build 12 Team".
I reckon we can't have left many people out, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Just in case. :doff
