I can't believe it's Saturday afternoon and i'm the only guy on the POTC forum <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

note: TTT posted one minute before you. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> anyway, TTT, do you happen to have a different solution of adding the new city?

with inez diaz tool, you can add locators to anything with that, they did the same with the islands of AOP. If you have added a locator, you can make through code a new city. I only don`t know how to add a nation, and to let it show on the world map. But hey, I am not a coder! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

well, i think that my way would work as well. the point is, i don't think that you would see a port where the port should be with your method.

You could add an inland town without a port. Some towns don't have ports, you know... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

But the English MUST have a port <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> I doesnt have to be a big one, but it is a port nonethelessAH!

How practical would it be to rotate the whole map so it actually looks like the Caribbean? Because right now the map looks like a side-view of the area.

And could the map be enlarged so as to include coastal parts of Florida, Central America and Venezuela?

<a href="http://archives.cnn.com/2000/WEATHER/08/23/hurricane.debby/caribbean.gif" target="_blank">Like this map.</a>

In the (far) future we could eventually add small "islands" on the southern part of the map with towns like Maracaibo, Trinidad, Cartagena, Rio de la Hacha, Belize, Vera Cruz and such arguing that all those islands are really "Southern America", but the rest of continent is outside the map... That's why we see only "islands".

I think that would be better than nothing. But let's finish things we have to do earlier first.

Thank for ideas and support. I think that idea of Nevis with the town and pirate settlement (which would be equivalent of Quebradas Costillas, where whole actions from that settlement could take place) with common port is good. Especially that currently I don't have slightest idea how to make a port from scratch...

I plan to start changing names island by island after nearest update (which I should publish on Sunday).

I really wouldn´t mind if we could use a larger part of the (real) Caribbean.
I wonder what will happen with my quest actions in QC, do I have to redo the whole thing somewhere else? Also it would be a great help for my own future planning to know which Island is going to be which (and ev. changes of nations etc).

About Martinique. I know Fort-de-France but not Fort-Royal. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You are right Pirate_kk. Fort Royal was the former name of Fort-de-France. Fort-de-France is only used since 1801. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

To Jack Rackham: I think that in the worst case, you'll just need to change some location id's and locators. I reckon we will all try to keep everything the same as much as possible.

Err... I'd really prefear that you add the whole Martinique island with the correct shape, the main ports, etc than taking the Falaise de Fleur model and pretend it looks like Martinique. That would be a bloody heresy!
What can be done is changing the dimension of those islands on the map. Conceiçao, Douwesen, Quebradas Costillas, Isla Muelle : they could be some small islands, with few geopolitical importance. That way we would have a more historical map, but with very few stock potc imaginary islands in some place ...

About adding piece of continent, whouldn't it be possible with CCC direct sail mod? We make seperate pieces, in small areas - of course the 'land ho' would be more frequent.

In the Venezuelan coast, rather then Maracaïbo I would add the city of Coro. see below :
<a href="http://www.venezuelatuya.com/occidente/coroeng.htm" target="_blank">http://www.venezuelatuya.com/occidente/coroeng.htm</a>
<a href="http://www.travelpost.com/SA/Venezuela/Falcon/Santa_Ana_de_Coro/map/2541035" target="_blank">http://www.travelpost.com/SA/Venezuela/Fal...oro/map/2541035</a>

Maracaïbo was an important town during the 17th century <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

@a simple virtual sailor: of course, that those islands doesn't look as in real world. It brings question: who would volunteer to make those island to look properly? I don't know how to do this and haven't enough time. Thus, if we can't have properly looking land shapes, let we have at least names...

Puerto Rico or Jamaica aren't such small islands, if my geographical knowledge serves me well.

In the XVII century the spanish 'capital' of northern coast of South America was Maracaibo, so I think this town is rather more important.

So then it would mean that we have to make a town that is WAY bigger than redmond if it would represent a capital!

why not use cuba several times for south america? that island is so big that you can't see the other end of it anyway. the player would likely not even notice that it's an island. the problem is, where would it end? if the player keeps on sailing long enough, he would eventually realise that it's actually an island, unless the island would be repeated infinitivly. but then you would have the problem of the town appearing over and over.

Hi all. Good news. In new SLiB (on AOP engine) added REAL Archipelago, including South America shore (Panama etc). Alexus and Company did a big work. I have all models and textures, so if anyone can make this job (code, I mean) and have a time for this... I'll upload all stuff to somewhere <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

<img src="http://foto.spbland.ru/data/media/11/lrg_107506_Corsairs30001.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

Islands list from SLiB:
<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->
Antigua, Barbados, Beliz, Bermudes, Caiman, Caracas, Cartahena, Cuba, Cumana, Curasao, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Maracaibo, Martinique, Nevis, Porto Bello, Puerto Rico, Santa Catalina, Sent Martin, Terks, Tortuga, Trinidad
<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

maybe it could indeed be put into PotC. but isn't it turk island and saint martin? how does the mainland work in that game?
