Pirates of the Caribbean: Patriots and Emperors

Seb' your ships will be kept ingame. The ones you made for the French will become the Portugiese Navy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I discovered something very weird while testing some new ships. They are in a pack called English Fleet by Jack Sparrow Jr. What's strange is I've seen the First rate and frigate on more than one engagement, which shows that they DO work ingame, yet can't figure out how to get it myself. The Manowar UK (that's their game name, like Frigate MM) is called Manowar5. When I put that into the line at Build Settings, I get the Don't Send Error Report pop-up and the game shuts off. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":|" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

I you want me to try to do a better frigate for frenchs with blueprints you might have, i'll do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The French Navy color scheme:
<img src="http://www.darkhorizons.com/2003/master/mc4.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

Looks like the Royal Navy, just switch the yellow ore with a dark red.

Ok, i will change the oar after i have downloaded the mod, and installed it.

I am downloading it with ftp commander, and i can see that everything is in folders and zips, and i was wondering, if i put every thing in the right place and then made an .exe could i upload it?

P.S. Is that pic from Master and Commander?

Wow! i had alway thunk that frenchs ships where, brown and cream, looking at some trafalgar drawings and many pictures O______o but they are not bad like that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Here is a painting by Geoff Hunt, artist of the Master and Commander book covers. The French ships are painted with the black and red scheme.

The creme colored ships look a bit more like the Dutch to me, but they also resemble the earlier French scheme, before the Napoleonic Wars.

I'm actually reading the Jack Aubrey adventures, that's a real delight, i'll prepare a red and black skin

Which one is it? I'm currently reading Desolation Island. Amazing!

I had an idea. I'm going to try and make things realistic. Frigates during the Napoleonic Wars carried between 28 and 44 guns. The game's Corvette carries 32, which is too heavy for the French equivlent of the sloop of war. I'm going to rename the Corvette to Frigate and Frigate to Heavy Frigate.
Cap Hawk's sloop of war will double for that and Corvette.

So here is how the ships in v1 will look:
Brig = Brig

Sloop of War = Sloop of War and Corvette

*Corvette = Frigate

**Frigate = Heavy Frigate

***Battleship = Ship of the Line

Manowar = First Rate
________________________________________________________

* Use the CorvFrig2_50 so we get the ensign on the mizzen.

**Use the frigate with the narrow bow for the French and Americans, and the one with the more rounded bow for everyone else.

*** Don't do this one yet, wait for Admiral Koch's improved battleship model to come out.

Try to finish just the French first, then we can copy the French ones and recolor them.

Look back at the list on pg 1 for updates.

Got that, i'll work on those skins with you indications <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> i'll also reskin the fearless and the lineship as i am :p

I've finished "the far side of the world" (maybe the most famous) and i'm on "the commodor" i've found four tomes in one book they are : "the commodore" "the yellow admiral" "the hundred days" and "blue at the mizzen" in brief, all the end <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Do you still just need build mod 12 and post build mod 12 with no patches installed, or the latest stuff?

I just have b12 and pb12. I'd like to wait for b13 to come out, then get that. Whats nice about P&E is that you can take the seperate files and put them in, so it works with anything really.

Ok, thanks, and i am trying to make an exe and i need the POTC folders to start with (Programs etc.), then i can put the mod stuff in, after that i can just make the exe, so does anyone know of away to copy all the potc folders but not the contents of them.

a realistic rating would be

lineship:
First-rate 120 or more guns flagship
Second-rate 100 guns lineship
Third-rate 74-80 guns second rate lineship

Frigates
Fourth-rate heavy
Fifth-rate medium
Sixth-rate light

Unrated
Sloop-of-war
Gun-brig
Cutter

the factions should be spanish, english, french,US etc maybe portugal and dutch together.

which spain own the largest fleet, it cant be ignored.

and lineships from different country should be different 2. at least
handling and number of guns should be different.

I know all of this, but there are certain things we have to sacrifice when modding. I wasn't talking about actual rating above, I was talking about which ship models to use so the game looks more realistic. Its also hard to make new ships, to a 120 gun First Rate is out.

From my understanding, the Spaniards had the largest ships and a navy that could be compared in size to England... but the British held first place when it comes to the number of ships.

During the Napoleonic Wars, here is what each navy was know for:
Britain: Sheer size
France: High quality ships
Spain: Big ships
United States: Excellent sailors (We never had the need for press gangs, every last man was a volunteer!)

uh oki, i know it's hard to increase the hardpoints.

u can borrow the models from aop, they are much better,

Nice work all. I want to have a look at your mod as well. Is there any content that might be added to the Build 13 modpack by default? I like to add as much as possible, as you know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

To Seb: Looking forward to the Dutch ships! Petros made one Dutch ship that is available from the latest modpack update. It would be great it you could make some more. Are you going to make Dutch navy ships or Dutch trading ships? I don't know much about Dutch navy ships, really. But I like Dutch trading ships with their green sterns. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

BTW: Are you going to make the final version an easy install? The current installation looks rather complicated. Using WinMerge, you can always install the mod partly instead of installing it all. Even if you DO make the mod in a one-download full file.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> My idea is a following, making vessels of the West Indian Company with military vessels for the escort (hope i'll have time for such a Work <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />) I've seen Petros's fleut, that's some very nice work and the level i wanna reach <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I'll try to make the final an easy install. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Looking forward to the EI Co. ships!
