Pirates Didn't Buy Ships

davest

Landlubber
And neither do

Find that when playing the game as a Pirate is more fun knowing that every ship you own is one that you've captured. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

Har! ye be right mate,an welcome aboard.I'd not be spend'n me booty on purchas'n items when dey can be had fer nuthin on de high seas <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Now the real question is -

Do you be going to town to have the shipyard repair your vessel, or do you only work with the wood and sailcloth you get from your plunders?

Unless you are nabbing a convoy, you generally don't find that much on the vessels. Makes it even more challenging.

Thats rights , If you are playing without mods you will hardlly find a ship that carries sailcloth and the wood but in last 2 released builds you don't have to worry about it . You will allways find many of it beside that in the build ... the pirate island has shipyard so you can make the repaires . <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Aye,I'd be doin most of me repairs wid sailcloth an planks from captured ships an wid de quik repair perks, she be fixed in no time,Har!

Heh, it's nice to get finished with a big sea battle and go into the shipyard to sell the extra ships you've captured and find out that there's no need for the shipwright to repair your ship because your men have repaired it for you! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Aye Catalina,fer sure dey need tew be earn'n der wages <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

no ship yard is needed if you have many salty sea hands that are good with patching a few holes and if they can't fix the damage just cut the rashons! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" /> lol

Now at be sound'n like an interest'n challenge, never kept track O' de time before but fer sure I've spent a lot O' time at sea ,loot'n plunder'n ships fer fame an fortune wid out putt'n a toe on land. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well, you could stay out there almost forever, if you didn't mind jettisoning extra cargo and sinking prize ships <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_twisted.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_twisted.gif" /> (not my style, LOL!)... As long as you can pay your men and keep them fed and in rum. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Aye,load up on Officer's afore ye set sail,an capture every ship ye encounter,,one big haul,Har! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I don't like to sink ships tho... I'd rather capture 'em and sell 'em... I usually WILL "throw back" the smaller ones, tho - give 'em a chance to "grow up" into bigger ones that are acceptable under the prize ship limits of the area... Wouldn't want the "Pirate Warden" to come after me demanding that he examine my catch! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Heh, why capture a sloop when you can have a corvette or a battleship? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

Aaargh I agree, I go plunderin fer da money! Dat means I go out wid a tartane an come back to port wid four man o wars! Dat be the real battle. Having to fight yer way down a ship like that, wid nuth'n but yer officers to back ye up!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

The only pirate I've read about who actually bought a ship was the "gentleman" Stede Bonnet!
