Hi skadog, hi everyone,
Yes, it's true that there are a lot of big November releases, but I'd put Pirates! up against any of them no problem, and from a publisher's standpoint we'd certainly rather have the game out and available as quickly as possible for the holidays. But in this case, it's a question of preserving the quality of the game. We want to allow as much time as possible for stomping out bugs. It was decided that we'd be better off taking a few extra weeks to do this before shipping it. Our operations crew has scheduled some overtime/weekend work to compress the time between receiving a gold master and producing finished product, so that we'd only lose a week on the ship date itself and so we'd make it out for the Thanksgiving shoppers.
November 22nd is the new official launch date. Limited Edition preorders are still available until then.
Best,
Jeff Foley

If this is the reason, I have to congratulate Atari, as they have learned from previous mistakes (The Temple of Elemental Evil comes to my mind). I am sure everybody will agree that it´s better to wait a couple of weeks, or even a month, than having a buggy game.
