Pirate Treasure

Captain-Gwynn

Landlubber
So does anyone have any pirate treasure:

I have a coin from 1738, a spanish piece of eight. I took it off a pirate ship that sank off the coast of NC. The coin is in great shape, and all is readable.

Anyone else have anything? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I dive....and I happened about 7 years ago find the ship in about 125-150 feet just off the coast, while actually looking for another ship.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I have a cursed coin necklace from PotC, does that count? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

I've been looking for just the right piece to put into my collection - haven't seen it yet - but I'll find it one day. Otherwise all I can actually claim as far as treasure is concerned is a can of shark teeth from long ago when I lived in Florida and picked them up on the beach on a regular basis. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

cool, very cool. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

I also got some pieces of asteroid in a market one day, but I dont think thats exactly "Piraty"

Theres also a collection of old coins somewhere, though I dont think any of them stretch that far back. Can I come with you diving someday? That'll lead to treasure!

Cool! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Avast, I found something vaguely piraty! In the coin collection that I got from my good old grandad, I found some very old coins. The vaguely piraty ones are from 1695 at the earliest (but barely legible) to genaral 1800's. The entire collection has some roman coins, the vaguely piraty ones, the later 1800's up 'till now. Thats it for pirate treasure from me.

Treasure indeed lads.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/treas1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":treas" border="0" alt="treas1.gif" />

I got me onesies

- two Pieces Of Eight cast of a silver bar from the "Atocha", sunk 1622 (one of which I always wear around the neck),

- two Pieces Of Eight from the "Nuestra Senora De La Pura Y Limpia Concepcion", sunk 1641,

- one Piece Of Eight from the "Vliegenthart", sunk 1735,

- two replicas of the "Cursed Aztec Medals" from POTC and

- four replicas from the 1715 Treasure Fleet Wreck (1, 2, 4 Escudos and a full Doubloon) found by Kip Wagner.

I just love the Pieces Of Eight, their weird shape never ceases to amaze me that they were legal tender once (some musta ripped holes into their owner's pockets <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ).

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/treas1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":treas" border="0" alt="treas1.gif" /> Capn_Enigma, that is one nice set of coins you have there.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Here is an image of my coin, althou the scanner did not show all the detail.

<img src="http://members.cox.net/tsv_graphics/POTC/back.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

It was a great find and one of my best coins...just imagin, the last time it was above the salty waters of the Atlanic it was held by a REAL pirate. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> VERY nice!

Actually now that I think about it, I have an old coin from Peru, I believe it is dated in the late 1700's. It's tiny... I have a lot of coins from Mexico, but they're not really old, just out-dated (Mexico changed all their money over a couple of decades ago) - which is too bad, because a lot of mine are $500 coins! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I used to have a LOT of fossils and a very nice rock collection, but when I went away to college I got a call from my mother one day - she said, "Daddy wants to know what you want done with the 500 pounds of ROCKS that are in the basement!" (they were selling the house). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Well, I had the neatest ones with me, so the rest just had to go. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ib012.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cry" border="0" alt="ib012.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

oh, yes the joys of collecting things...and just as soon as we let them go, we find out that they were worth $$$$$..... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I've got a coin from 1670's, but I'm afraid it was never in pirate hands...

You coin looks fabulous, Gwynn! I doubt I have to tell you to take good care of it...
