Pirate Simulator

Mr. Mercer

Sailor
Well, Pirate Simulator, if you all don't already know, was hacked. A man or woman was posting false information from about November 2007 to January 1st. He has been caught and the game is set to enter Beta 1 this month. There are many skeptics of the game, but there are many who believe it is real. Here's the links to the forum and the official "site"

Yeah I was reading he "fan" site abotu this and even they think it's all a farce also.

It does come across as very very hard to believe considering there have been no screenshots or anything outside of whats been called a 3d render of a screenshot.

By all means, it it's true thats great but they need to have something tangible to convert me over.

There is a mention of a 5 minute trailer at Alpha stage 2 or 3, That maybe interesting to watch if it comes about <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I especially like that screenshot that was taken from a porn pirate movie. I don't believe this game is real. At all.

Who told!!!

Nope it wasn't, checked yesterday <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I checked! It's not there in the gallery!

If you have it, please put it up here with the URL.

(you are talking about the ship-to-ship scene, right?)

Why is this still on our board. Its all fake. I can make out all the ships are where they are from. they are all poser models, and they got ahold of the packet boat from POTBS user content pack..pretty much mostly poser stuff. <a href="http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/catmain/-/?cat=29" target="_blank">http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/catmain/-/?cat=29</a>

Does anyone think I should simply lock this thread? Obviously the "game" is a hoax.

Nah! I wouldn't lock it Pieter, people need to know what going on with this so called game. Any info good or bad should be public knowledge <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I agree leave it up. its almost funny, wow what some people do to get so attention.FYI I was just being sarcastic <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> in my previous post .

Ok; so perhaps we should add a note about it somewhere in a sticky or on the main site.
"Pirate Simulator is a hoax!" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I thought everyone might want to know that the psmmods site is now only showing an error message - the site seems to have disappeared (at least for me, using both IE and Firefox).

Interesting! Doesn't suprise me, those guys paid to keep the site going for a game that may or may not be released, most likley the latter. a shame really <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

It was mentioned over on the forum before it up and vanished that the devs were thinking of "running in silent mode" this last little while before the game's release - methinks that's since turned into "dead mode" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> .

I had read somewhere that hosting was paid up to the 8th of this month - I guess the payment never went beyond that. It would be nice to see the people that poured their own money into this thing get it back, but then again, that would be going against the basic principles of internet criminology.

The devs' own site is still up and running, but with all that went on, I don't think I'll believe any new info if it gets posted there.

I definitely agree that the game's apparent nonexistence is a real shame - I was looking forwards to being able to raid ports around the world, and maybe even battle modern ships with vessels from the 19th century. Oh well, I guess that'll stay a pipe dream <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />

Methinks I have an IDEA!!!! **GASP**

Well, since seaward.ru has their own game, COAS, how about PA having their own game using "Creative Sparks'" idea? The modders could switch off their current projects and try and get a contract with E3. I know a lot of people wanted elements in this game and this would be the pirate game to end all pirate games. I SAY YES! We at the PA forums and on PA in general should get something with Akella, EA, or Lighthouse Interactive to MAKE AND PUBLISH THIS GAME!! THE SAME GRAPHICS QUALITY AND DEPTH (story and things you can get and do, ex. horses and carriages on land and FPS when carrying a musket, the musket would be on your back) SHOULD BE PRESERVED WITH NEW ELEMENTS ADDED.

Please give me your comments on this. I am not a modder or a game designer, I am simply presenting the Idea.

If anything, I think the best idea is to continue modding on City of Abandoned Ships. I think that's the best platform for a "best pirate game ever". It's got the best engine which also allows us to use our previous modding work for PotC and AoP. Even more so, it sounds like it will actually be GOOD. AND we have established contact with Akella and seaward.ru and now have some support from them. I would definitly NOT want to continue work on this "Pirate Simulator". Mainly because it's a FRIGGIN' HOAX! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />
