Ok this is my idea to start the forum off :cheers

New cities, i was thinking like most of these vast games that only the major cities will be put in so im going to use this thread to jot down some of the other cities that probably wont make it in and details for them like trading goods, anything they were famous for maybe a bit of history for them and so on

I think P!2 will be very easy to mod like Morrowind (they use the same engine) so there shold be some thing like the `TES-Construction` Set.About future mods why not a pirate town or some thing.

i was going to try and keep it historically accurate ( sorta )

who makes p2 cause if it like morrowind i might buy it. yes i ahve got the sense to know it has not got elves, orcs and nords in it but will it be kinda easy to handle and can u go every where 8)

:p: and welcome aboard, Canucks33! Pull up a keg, have a seat, and have a couple on us! :blah:

Modifying games that have enough of the code available so that we can make changes. We've made some incredible changes to Pirates of The Caribbean.

Other modded games that some folks here have worked on include the original Sea Dogs.

Fun stuff, you should check out the Modding section to see what it's all about! :cheers :)

Actually it would be nice if barry of jeff could answer this one, we have been told about the avatars & flags but no word on towns or such yet.

thanks Catalina for the welcome.

im not really into computer programs :x how i wish i know how and "not scared" of doing things in computer.

Well, the mods some people have done for PotC are pretty amazing. You don't have to "do" anything except download the new build (v11.0) and install it into your game and you will be able to play past the end - bugs are fixed - quests are revived (some were dead ends), new characters, new ships, new situations... Brings a whole new dimension to the play.

(or do you play on PS2 or `X-Box` alone?)

actually i played in PS2, XBOX and PC. but i have some difficulty w/ my old (2002) pc. my laptop Intel P3 slows down the game and that drains my energy alot and kill the excitement of the game. like w/ my POTC, i returned the PC copy in exchanged of XBOX. ;)

Ah... The mods are only for the PC... It's too bad, because the mods make the game AWESOME... But I know how it is with a game that outstrips your computer. :b:

A friend very kindly gave me a game I'd been drooling over for quite some time - and the reason I hadn't bought it was because I knew my computer wouldn't be able to handle the graphics... So it sat here collecting dust until I upgraded - then BOY, did I get into it! :b: Great fun...

(no, not a pirate game) ;)

how i wish i found this site early. so i could at least enjoyed the mod. but i was disappointed in that game POTC, i thought thats its the same as the SD. so i still keep my fingers (and my toes) cross for this game to br released in xbox. or else ill be forced to buy a new comp. and i need more convincing power so my wife will agree to buy a NEW computer for the KIDS

City mod

Hi there, nice forum you've got. If i had known there existed such a forum i would have registered earlier. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I've been playing Sid Meier's Pirates! for days since it's release back in the eighties.
So when Firaxis announced a sequel, or remake, whatever you wanna call it, i instantly began wondering what might the improvements be.

One thing that hasn't been in any pirate game, as far is i know, is a real pirate hide out like you have in the comic Red Beard, terror of the seven seas (don't know if it was ever released outside Europe).
In the original Pirates! you could install a governor, and in Cutthroats you could install one of your men as Governor.

I'd like a hide out on a distant far away island somewhere in the Caribbean , build a small village there, build an economy and make it something Tortuga or Jamaica was back in the days.

Would that be hard to mod?

George,

Many of the features you sugest are already implemented in Port Royale 2.

Regarding modding SMP! we just need to wait for the game to be released to be able to understand how far it can be modded.
Out of the blue, what you ask for is not that easy to do, but only time will tell...
