Watched the trailer. It looks SO silly! And a bit corny...
From HBO even?!?
Is this them apologizing for the dreariness of "Black Sails"?
If so: good on them for showing something else!
On the other hand, it almost feels too much the other way.
Could this be the next "Crossbones"?
(Aka. pirate series that flies completely under the radar and nobody cares about?)
I do hope this will be enjoyable.
On the whole, I do like light fare and comedy much more than all that overly self-important serious nonsense.
Taika Waititi, at least, has recently quite drawn my attention.
As far as I can tell, he does have a pretty good sense of humour.
Black Sails was from Starz, not HBO.

I mixed 'em up, because I originally saw it on "HBO Max"; listed right next to "Game of Thrones".A new trailer has dropped.
This was thoroughly enjoyable, btw.
I signed up for an HBO Max subscription last week, basically just to be able to watch this.
Got halfway into the series and... IT'S BLOODY BRILLIANT!!
BEAUTIFULLY hilarious. FULL of social commentary.
REALLY turns all things "pirate" RIGHT on its head!!
By the way, I was actually quite impressed with the selection on HBO Max.
Most of the "HBO" and "Max" stuff strikes me as dreadfully boring.
But in addition, they ALSO have a "Warner Bros" section; and there's SUCH a great number of GEMS hiding in there!!
