A 4th rate? But there is a single gun deck. According to the "Rating" system, 3rd and 4th rates were two deckers. This looks like a sloop-o-war, 18 guns minimum. Then again, this could be a 4th rate in the 17th century. I am a know - it - all in the period from 1770 - 1820. -
