Odd file on FTP

Rico

Corsair
Storm Modder
I found an odd file on the FTP: it goes by the name of <b>WorldMap_ship_models.zip</b>. There is no info about who made it or why, just .gm files for every nation. I guess these are unique models for ships on the worldmap... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

That'd be me.
Yeah. And in an early build I overwrote them with the player's ship (so you wouldn't know the nation 'til you reload). Which was a really crummy solution, because I coulda & shoulda done it in code.
Which I finally got around to doing, but didn't have the old models--and I figured most others who had the build, _also_ didn't have 'em handy because they'd been overwritten.

So, if you've installed the build, and you've just grabbed the pre13 which has the WDMAP_SHIP_SHOW_MODE toggle and you want it set to show-nation-of-ship, you need to either get the ship models off your POTC disc (difficult because they're in a bloody useless Installshield nonstandard CAB) or grab this archive.

Ah, okay, thanks! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> How can I open the PotC .CABs? I've tried with a lot of programs. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>PS: I couldn't reply to your PM, as your inbox seems to be full. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> </span>

{Yikes, just noticed. Fixed now. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> }

After some googling I found something called i6comp that handles the compression/decompression of installshield archives. Google should find it, or I can upload it to the FTP. Commandline, but it _works_. Which is better'n any other extraction util that thinks cabs are always /Microsoft/ cabs...

Thanks, I'll have a go when I've got my main comp back up and running. The reason I wanted to know, is that I was planning on making a PotC install with the newest Build included. Much easier to install, then. Build 12 or 13 included, DVD PotC install. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
