I've heard that the armour can be found as treasure, in the chests and the "hand" locations, I've never found any myself, and you can buy the armour at the Tailor shops.

Only the Dutch, Portugese and Spanish soldiers wear the cuirass and morion armours, the French, English and pirates appear to eschew it, so you should go to the tailor shops on the Dutch, Portugese and Spanish islands. I may not be correct, but I do not recall having seen the armour for sale in the other locations.

The Armour is WYSIWYG, What you see is what you get, so if you buy an outfit of an armoured person and you wear it, then it is equipped and you gain the benefit thereby.
Personally, I bought a nice Spanish armour, but I usually remember to put it on right after I finish the battle that I meant to put it on for. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I think I'll join you in this challenge with either a sloop or a lugger. 5) Use de object from yer Tartana (absolute max damage result!)
6) Sic yer MMOW on de BP
7) Run hide from de BP!

Lets see if we have an accord:
1. Must use a lugger or a sloop alone going into the battle at KR
(let me know if we cannot use other ships prior to the battle at KR)
2. Adventurer level
3. Either Cannons or Culverines (player's choice)
4. First to post a pic of a sinking BP, with your ship in the picture, is the winner.
(should we just sink Silehard and the pirate's ships so they cannot participate in the fight with the BP?)

I like the method you described above, getting around a computer using it's own rules is always funny in my book.

I say we open the challenge to whomever wants to participate, but I would rather go `mano-a`-mythagelogical beast with you. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
 
Oh I have to try this too, except I'm not at ALL near the end of the main quest in any game I have saved. So it'll be interesting to do it once I am... I have NO TIME to get there quickly (still have not informed Silehard of the French Invasion, huh, and I am a Portuguese Admiral!) (LOL!)...

You're going to have to make sure you tell your MOW to "sail away" so you can take on the BP without its help...

Um, dunno if you all are aware, but the object sets the BP equal to your HP. So, you could probably sink her with a gunboat, as long you stayed away from her guns.
It's the MOW and other sundry evildoers that you have to watch out for!

And yes, SFAIK, you _can_ topple the BP's masts.

And lastly, making her boardable _is_ easily doable: so for the ultimate challenge you can try to _board_ her with a small boat.

Oh, and I think I can set any savegame you like to right before the KR journey (I did this to test Brin). But since FB's already provided, it's probably moot. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

One last note. In build 11, unlike build 10, ship HP and cannon caliber _is_ taken into account in mast fall calcs; so you should find it harder than usual to topple a big ship's mass with a small gun.
