New Pirate game

Hi guys, I was just looking around and I found this new game in development from Ascaron, apparently they made one in 2003 called tortuga something. Anyway it looks like they are making a Tortuga 2. It's called Tortuga Two Treasures, anyway it seems to promise sea battles, and you use the dinghy alot apparently even to sneak up on enemy ships at night to swordfight them on the decks, apparently everything will be realistically scaled. Anywhoo, I've been looking at these great forums before and considering ye be all such pirate fans I thought I'd let ye know incase ye didn't know!

It's a new year and so there are some news about "Tortuga: Two Treasures".

And Ascaron gives us a playable Demo. This file weights 333 MB and there are two levels that can be played. First you have to play at sea and sink some pirate ships. Beware of mines (Barrels with blackpowder). You can use some special abillities like Kraken Decoy or Explosive Barrels. Funny thing is when you hit an enemy ship with your cannons some crewmembers fell overboard and sharks surround the poor men. If you are not fast enough to rescue them the sharks will devour them. Sounds a little brutal but, hey, a pirates life is hard life. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

Second Level is a Land level and you fight as Thomas "Hawk" Blythe in third person view. You meet Zombies and other Pirates and you have to hack and slay through a pirate outpost. You can use some special abillities either like Pistols or some special movements.

Soundquality is very low at the moment but I hope this will be changed in final game. I think this Demo could be Alpha or Beta Status.

Downloaded all of the 333mb and tried it.
May verdict is, wouldn't spend any money
on that one..........maybe if it goes to bargain basement
store for 5 dolls and than I'm not to sure! I've got Tortuga
Pirates of the new World and the only improvment are the
graphics and they did not work to well when it comes to fighting
on land. Maybe they will improve it since it is only a Beta?
But I've seen it all before and have my doubts about it!!

So back to PotC Build. But there are some nice soundeffects in it I can use for PotC or AoP. So I grab them and delete the demo at once. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

i actually think that there are three tortuga games. i don't remember the other one though. i do know that the first one is really bad becuase it's so incredibly repetitive.

Downloaded the demo, the only thing I liked was the dingy you can launch from yer ship, looks quite good when you zoom in on it,would look great in POTC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

in other corners of the World! Mine is the english version and
puplished by Nodtronics (Australia) and it is a load of Crap!
The second one is Pirates of the new World and the Port Royale
series by Ascaron and Patrician. All these games running more or less
along the same lines and you'll get tired of them very quickly!
