New Islands Mod in Post Build 12 Mods

You reckon the new islands mod should be added in the Post Build 12 modpack

I am wondering if the new islands mod can be added into the Post Build 12 modpack? It would save a lot of compiling difficulties for me (as I found out Sunday). Plus they feature many nice new features (including the treasure generator). But some people might not want to have the new islands mod, because it isn't finished or something. What do you think?
 
I'd welcome that. If we had one only version of the codebase it would be easier to make our mods compatible and it would reduce the risk of overwriting each others files.
And those who don't want to use the new islands could simply not sail there <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Maybe (I haven't check so it's possibly I'm saying some stupidity) it will help some landlubber like me to find my way trough the new islands if the maps of them could be integrated in the game?

Oh for the love of all that's good ...
couldn't we find a way to make the Post B12 a Build 13 so we don't have to DL so many files over and over again!

Build 12 came out a year ago and we still don't have an update!

I just started the post B12 base DL and it's going to take 12hrs ... and that is without the islands!
 
at present i'd say no with the new islands in the post build as it has some really annoying things that i feel need to be sorted out a bit first.things like not being able to drop anchor in places and no fast travel links on the new islands. sure first time somewhere it's nice to go running around a find out what the place looks like and whats where but it's a pain in the rear when you base yourself somewhere in cuba or hispaniola so you can go pirate hunting around turks and everytime you want to sell your plunder and ships you captured you have to run all over town for ages instead of just being able to warp from place to place.
i'm at a complete loss when it comes to programmin anything so these may be completely impossible to do but if it isn't and the person making the ne islands wants a hand is willing to train me up a bit i'd be willing to help out. the mod has great potential it just has a few things need to be worsted out first is all.

To dHerblay: What map do you mean? There is a map in the game (go to the F2 interface and select the map interface). That will show you where each island is. There are no maps for the layout of all the islands though. Not as far as I am aware anyway.

Great idea! Then I don't have to upload so much either. I hate uploading. I would have to figure out what works 100% right though, so I know what to add to the "official" Build update. There isn't quite as much bug-fixing going on as is needed (no wonder; Nathan is still gone <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> ), so we can hardly hope to get all bugs sorted out before making a sort-of official Build 13 or something like that. I am trying to make update files, so that it is possible to update your game, rather than redownlaod again. However, with the amount of stuff being added, I just can't support versions that are too old. So if you miss too many updates, you would need to redownload. Which I am not particularly happy about either.

I promise I won't change the file until your download is done then. Otherwise you'd end up with a corrupted file. BTW: Some download programs (such as Download Accelerator) can resume downloads, so you don't have to leave the PC on for 12 hours, but can download, say, 2 hours every day and be done in 6 days instead. Might be worth checking out.
 
I am for that too. Although they aren´t finished at all, I conquered Torguga fort and the town then and it was very impressive experience and amusement for me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Build 12 still have a few bugs. So it isn't all finished yet, it doesn't matter for me. I think the new islands MUST be added !
 
I might have thought of a useful way of keeping both mods seperate. I will try and if it works out, you probably won't even have to install the new islands code file all the time after an update either. Plus I won't have to update the new islands files all the time either. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
