New Horizons Remastered v0.1.1.21 Released

    A new version of New Horizons Remastered has just been released on Itch.io, bringing a few new features, improvements and fixes that add a bit of polish to the experience. Read on for the highlights!

    Dynamic Sky and Weather
    We've added the Tenkoku Dynamic Sky asset to the game, which produces spectacular skies and weather effects on the fly. It features a full day/night transition, which we've set to an accelerated rate for this build so you can experience the full cycle in a short time. A longer cycle will be introduced in the next release.

    As night falls, you will now see lanterns light up on land and on the ships.

    You'll also notice a few visual enhancements to the town scene, added by @RobinPC. The trees sway gently in the wind, and look far more natural than the original trees. Similar enhancements will be added to other scenes in future.

    HMS Indefatigable
    Players of the latest release of the PotC: New Horizons mod may already be familiar with this new ship. Recently built from scratch by @Martes, the Indefatigable is the new player ship, and a very deadly one at that. She's a razée frigate featuring 44 24-pounder broadside guns and four 12-pounder chase guns. She is the first custom ship to be released simultaneously for both the NH mod and NHR, and hopefully not the last!

    As a bonus, an original music track by @Tempesta has been added to the ship deck scene (which is also from the Indefatigable) for you to enjoy before you set sail.

    Dialogue System
    This build also features the Dialogue System for Unity asset, which now lets us implement conversations similarly to the NH mod. Rhys Bloom has been added to this release to showcase the basic features of this system, including the first part of his quest dialogue for you to try out. The quest itself has not been implemented yet, but it's on the cards for a future update.

    You'll see Rhys' face animate in some circumstances, which was made possible by replacing his normal head with the animated head model from PotC. This can be animated independently of the rest of the body, opening up plenty of opportunities for cutscenes and quest dialogue.

    Changelog Menu
    Although not the most exciting feature, you can now view a changelog directly from the Main Menu screen to see the complete list of changes in this build. Check back in future builds to keep up with the latest features and bug fixes.

    New Horizons Remastered is a fully standalone game and 100% independent from PotC: New Horizons.

    I think there is something along those lines in PotC:NH.

    Just to clarify: New Horizons Remastered is a separate, work-in-progress game that you can download from Itch.io. I recommend using the Itch desktop client, as it will install and update the game for you.
    This game is more of a tech demo at the moment, but more features are being added gradually. Do not try installing this on top of PotC, as it won't work. ;)

    All ships currently in New Horizons Remastered are also available in the PotC: New Horizons mod.

    Can I with POTC:NH my Quests for my NHRM Update Projekt preplan?

    I plan to include alle me Quests from my POTC:NH - Update Projekt.

    I don't think there's much "pre-planning" you need to do. You can't plan for specific gameplay features, because we haven't implemented everything yet. Several features from the New Horizons mod will be missing for a while, so you probably won't be able to port some of your quests for some time. All you can do is keep developing them for the NH mod in the meantime. :shrug

    I mean can I preplan it in the POTC:NH Mod and import to the NHRM when it is finsh.

    It's great to see attention paid to so many details - like the bow wake under weather conditions for example. Nice!
    I was wondering if it's possible or in the works to enable a "single ranging shot" before unleashing a broadside? That'd be cool. And even better - the option to fire(and load?) gun decks separately? ( as in N.Action). Keep up the awesome work guys.

    This is in the works. We already have different calibres for each side (i.e. chase guns are different to broadsides), and the foundation is in place for per-deck calibres. We just need to change the UI to support multiple batteries per side.

    I have a question about PLC in NHRM:
    First are the Character Models 1:1 from The
    POTC:NH so i can use this model and Textures?

    Did you also make Character Request?
    I have 4 Character Requests for the NHRM.
    I post later here a link to the my Character Request.

    Such questions at this stage of development serve no purpose at all, I'm afraid.
    Right now, they could only slightly distract and/or annoy the developers. And by the time the game is ready, your requests will have been long forgotten.

    I have one thing which I did miss in the POTC:NH. It would be nice if you could add this.

    I miss the „sleep Funktion“ in the Captain Cabin. In in AOP2:GOF Mod is this Function.

    Please add this, it would be nice to have this.

    Ps: and please can make the Town bigger?

    For goodness sake, @pirateking, I already told you earlier this week that any detail-oriented requests like yours are completely pointless for the foreseeable future.
    Keep your own private wish list for the future if you want, but don't ask a new useless question here every few days!
